I'm expecting rock n roll, a lot of funk. Especially since Pharrell is all over this act apparently. And I'm sure Nile Rodgers didn't just do one song for her.

it's not exactly surprising that people are excited for an album that isn't country. like literally nobody likes country, especially not from pop girls. it can only go uphill from here

What if the double lead single was teasing a double album…

One side being industrial and experimental rock.

The other side more blues and funk-y rock.

Ya the fact that it did as well as it did is truly a testament to her name and power, especially internationally. Country is like that go to genre cited when people are asked what kind of music they like and they say, "I like everything, really... except country."

Tbh I am hoping for more vintage rock-n-roll... I think YAYA was a taste, though the fact that she added it (at the last minute) to CC maybe is a sign that act iii won't be that, and that was sort of just a bridge from old country/rock styles to what she'll do on act iii, but I have no doubt there'll be some strong Sister Rosetta Tharpe references regardless, we know Beyoncé likes to blend things.

ALSO can we talk about OH, LOUISIANA... it's actually one of my fave songs on the album and all she did was pitch it up (right?).

I duno there's just something about how simple it is, how she's basically quoting it, presenting it as a source tweaked to fit into her track run, it's such a fun moment.

Country music was already oversaturated with crossover hits and singles by the time Bey came around to throw Texas Hold 'Em in the mix. It was easy to drag and criticize by country fans and OBH alike as something try-hard and gimmicky despite their being much better deep cuts that better represent the album. Rock has more room for her kind of talent in general. There's less gate keeping, and just all around an appreciation for her as a performer with healthy growls, belts and vocal stamina. Country fans settle for much less and seem to value politics over raw talent in general. The rock genre is also not as oversaturated as of late. I'm sure there's a lot of people who are longing for something more musically mature than say, Olivia Rodrigo (no shade) reviving pop-rock in the mainstream. I feel Beyoncé will be respected as powerhouse in the genre.

Speaking of the vocal possibilities, I hope there's a lot of freestyle ad-libbing a la Stevie Tribute on it.

CC is a great album but country is the worst genre ever to exist and IDGAF who disagrees.

Ironically, country may have boxed her in more than other genres. She definitely made it her own, but I think she wanted to tread a fine line of respecting the genre and taking it to different places.

Whereas rock doesn't really have limitations. There aren't a lot of country songs I know (that I like) I can say "Oh, Bey would kill that," but the list of rock songs she could kill is pretty much infinite.

I would love for him to have convinced her to record her own version of "Come Together", but I doubt it. Michael's or Tina's version is the direction I could see her going in, especially with her teasing a Tina caricature in the "COWBOY CARTER" visual, unless she's trying to stick Tina solely to "YA YA".

His instrumentation, and the first verse of the song, is the only reason I can stumble through "PROTECTOR". The particular sound settings, the quality and richness of the actual guitar being used. . . as someone with a background in strings and keys, the instrumentation on CC is some of her finest quality! I love when she's able to hear and execute real instruments, which is another reason I know Act III should have a rich live sound.

I'm ready for the R&B infused grunge, whatever that sounds like lol
