i checked out his album and would love production similar to the first two tracks. some tame impalaesque moments would be very welcome. his sound blends easily with hip-hop, r&b, and pop, and the amount of directions she could take on this record are truly endless

as others have said, country boxed her in much more. it's widely hated outside the US and relies too much on corny, stereotypical hallmarks like twangy guitars, banjos, and lyrics about trucks or whiskey. she had to balance making it recognizably country but in a pop and innovative way, but there are only so many ways to make that **** interesting. rock is far more diverse and doesn't need forced guitar solos or over-the-top metal screams to be recognized as rock music. it will give her much more conical freedom and take off some of the expectations people might have

It's truly astounding really that Beyoncé is about to enter her 30th year in the music industry and is still one-upping herself every chance she gets and contributing to the cultural conversation with not only commercial success but wide acclaim, too.

For comparison sake, this would be like (using 30 as a round number, but subtract one if you want accuracy)

I will always respect Bey for doing the music she wants to do and not doing rehashes of hits like single ladies and halo. Everybody knows pop sells the most and she has continued being a force in the industry without needing those type of songs. Beyonce is one of the rare ones that don't have to depend on the GP to sell tours.

I think perhaps Madonna is closest example we have for this sort of longevity, but in the early 2010s she certainly not putting out the acclaimed, thoughtful works like COWBOY CARTER (and what we can assume act iii will be). Instead, she was in an era where she was following trends instead of starting them, having hits of less scope (Beyoncé too, though the promotional differences are vast) and relying more on the appeal of her collaborators than her own (4 Minutes, Gimme All Your Lovin').

Beyoncé truly is in unchartered territory in SO MANY ways and she really does NOT get the credit she deserves for carving out a path that is basically unique to herself alone.

There really has never been a popstar who, while having 0 solo hits for 13 years, become a BIGGER artist, more RESPECTED, more RELEVANT, and more IMPACTFUL.

I know there are several points as to how Beyoncé could still be as well-regarded AND have hits (by actually promoting her work) and that her having hits would sustain her on streaming and in the public's consciousness and whatnot, BUT I think the fact that she has been able to accomplish all she has without it is a truer testament to her power and the worth of her music itself.
