My mom passed away last week. I know I mentioned her wanting to hear a Beyonce rock album as she has anticipated it for years, and I'm so sad she didn't get to hear it before she passed (if that's wha

No shade but this was not a cute vocal

THE was the perfect lead for CC, I wouldn't have picked any differently. But I still don't like it and it's still her worst lead. I love CC as an album but it's not stacked with single choices.

B would never let the Grammys tease her appearance. They probably won't even know she's coming until the moment she turns up, or not

Dare I say these awards shows have caught on that everyone expects Bey to be the surprise, so they do this to get people to tune in?

oh you may dare, they've been doing it for years, ever since they've noticed she either doesn't show up to their shows anymore and when she does she won't perform or walk a red carpet.

but the again her being a surprise aoty presenter wouldn't be that far fetched. it's a great occasion to tease the album, she's last years aoty winner and wether kendrick, nose, bad bunny or leon thomas win her presenting would make more or less sense thematically. but it'll definitely be some old legend or something random like last year's firefighters anyway toofunny3. i do feel like she's gonna show up, she ain't got **** else to do

If Bey don't show up it's because she didn't lose the weight. Her announcing album of the year wouldn't be far fetched but again it's Bey we are talking about.

  1. PRAY YOU CATCH ME vs I'M THAT GIRL vs AMERICAN REQUIEM

  2. HOLD UP vs COZY vs BLACKBIRD

  3. DON'T HURT YOURSELF vs ALIEN SUPERSTAR vs 16 CARRIAGES

  4. SORRY vs CUFF IT vs PROTECTOR

  5. 6 INCH vs ENERGY vs TEXAS HOLD EM

  6. DADDY LESSONS vs BREAK MY SOUL vs BODYGUARD

  7. LOVE DROUGHT vs CHURCH GIRL vs JOLENE

  8. SANDCASTLES vs PLASTIC OFF THE SOFA vs DAUGHTER

  9. FORWARD vs VIRGO'S GROOVE vs SPAGHETTI

  10. FREEDOM vs MOVE vs ALLIGATOR TEARS

  11. ALL NIGHT vs HEATED vs II HANDS II HEAVEN

  12. FORMATION vs THIQUE vs YA YA

RENAISSANCE: 7

It's truly astounding really that Beyoncé is about to enter her 30th year in the music industry and is still one-upping herself every chance she gets and contributing to the cultural conversation with not only commercial success but wide acclaim, too.

For comparison sake, this would be like (using 30 as a round number, but subtract one if you want accuracy)

  • Diana Ross in 1991

  • Tina Turner in 1990

  • Dionne Warwick in 1992

  • Michael Jackson in 1999

  • Janet Jackson in 2012

  • Prince in 2008

  • Donna Summer in 2004

  • Stevie Wonder in 1993

  • Aretha Franklin in 1990

  • Mariah Carey in 2020

  • Madonna in 2012

  • and so on and so forth

None of this is to say that she's better than them, or they flopped, because I think many of them paved the way for her to be the kind of autonomous artist that allowed her to sustain her career the way she has, and many have faced ageism, but just to point out the very rare position Beyoncé's at in her career.

Reading this list honestly tells me the story of why so clearly…

All of those performers reaching a similar milestone in their career all within the same 12-13 year stretch says the Millennials who grew up at that time learning of that group of legacy performers, had them as the measure for what a legacy performer looks like(for lack of better term). And Beyoncé is the performer from the Millennial era who best represents what we knew from the past - and we continue to embrace her because as time has gone on, legacy performers have almost diminished. Perhaps you could argue a few others into the conversation justifiably, but she stands as the anomaly because of her tenure and because her fanbase has not died off, nor has her appeal to the general public. Again, mostly due to the generations who grew up listening to her and how we consume/perceive our artists now.

And I use the word performer specifically because that is the common attribute of Beyonce and all of the legends you listed. It's also what sets her apart from so many of her peers who are not actually performers so much as they are creatives who sing.

Sorry for the word vomit

I see ur point, but honestly the reason why Bey still stands so strong is because of her relentless pursuit of greatness. Point blank. Whether its related to her voice, her music, her performances - she always develops, she always imagines, she always evolves.

Theres nothing stagnant about Bey nor her career, and thats what still makes it exciting to follow her.

Nah, she's doing a D'Angelo and Roberta Flack tribute

I actually think she will go to do a hair reveal, and if she presents AOTY either option of her giving it to Kendrick, Bad Bunny or Gaga will be amazing

"Ladies and gentlemen, here to present the GRAMMY award for the Album of the Year is the last year's winner and the most awarded artist in the history of the GRAMMYs. Welcome Beyoncé!"

Beyoncé enters the stage wearing a black dress and black or dark auburn wig, says something subtly political and connects it to the this year's nominees.

"And the GRAMMY goes to..."
