Hmm

Was actually coming to say this. Interesting as the B'Day reissue is, it all but confirms that Act III is at best dropping end-ish of the year but more realistically next.

it's simple consumer logic.

With the B'Day reissue being worked as a "thing" (60 day countdown, which will likely encompass more song drops) and there sure to be a physical component (vinyl etc), it would be consumer fatigue coming right behind that with Act III. The Hive don't have endless pockets and there is a science to how artists "spend" their audience attention. In this economy and era of shorter than ever attention spans, trying to sell too much too soon (reissue and new album) would work against the success of Act III IMO. Not surefire, but potentially.

With that, the next realistic frame would be late Q4. And while that would/could benefit album sales (holiday purchases), dropping a single in any proximity to the Xmas flood is asking to underperform. So, it almost feels like the next safe window is early Q1. This woman and the torture.

I say all of this to say, I really don't think it's anything to do with what Jay's doing at all. IMO, he's reheating his presence in the marketplace by reminding folks of classic material. Bey, IMO, is simply filling the gap that was supposed to be Act III with that whatever she can to tide fans over. Because, not doing all of this for DIL but randomly starting with B'Day while in the middle of the trilogy doesn't scream "this was the plan all along" nor does it read all that ideal given that she's in the middle of a trilogy! A trilogy that she has been moving militant during (eg. Releasing nothing unless it's tied to the era she's in). All of a sudden between Act II and Act III, it's "time" to pause an honor B'Day?! Girl…

i hope, hooooope we get a 3cds version of this

  • cd 1 bday standard remastered with back up, creole and lost yo mind

  • cd 2 deluxe edition tracks remastered

  • cd 3 with all the new stuff

but i know she wont so whatever

Is Bday getting a rework of some kind? Sorry can't follow all these threads on atrl anymore.

If yes, her releasing act III in 2027 is completely fine with me.

I really don't want a rework or remaster if we can avoid it. They always butcher them. Yes, you can say Beyoncé is in control but she's not the same person she was when these songs were originally conceived, so the changes would be massive and will take away from what made us fall in love with this album in the first place.

Reissue, yes. Remaster, hell no. The album is fine as it is. Flaws and all.

Just add the outtakes and the bonus songs and be done with it. Don't gotta reinvent anything.

Top 10 on Apple Music is crazy for an anniversary surprise drop. Let's see what it pulled on Spotify in those 11 hours. I would already be gagged if it did over a million tbh.

You can always go and listen the original version if you don't like the new version

Disagree. If anything, Bey has a reputation of being an innovator. I wouldnt put it past her to have redone, re-imagined the Bday songs in parts, maybe even taking out some songs and adding others to re-imagine Bday in a current setting.

Re-issues and aniversaries have been done to death - its Bey who I trust to serve something that is more than that.

I'm trying not to be too pedantic, as I actually like that our girl is playing the nostalgia game... a bit.

But it's kinda jarring seeing how "big" the initial buzz around "Beyonce is back" and "dropping new music" for Donk. Like all the DSPs, all the media outlets, etc. It feels like the type of hype one should reserve for Act III.

In one regard, she's "Beyonce." So, they'll do all of this come the time for Act III. But, in this being pushed as a "thing-thing," I can't help but feel they are wasting a bit of her hype capital on this. We've seen what happens when the novelty of a "new or surprise Beyonce release" becomes the norm or a card they overplay....it doesn't hit as hard (e.g. the underperformance of The Gift + BIK, much as I love them...not to mention the quiet list of underperforming collabs, remixes, etc).

Hey, maybe I'm being OTT and she'll have additional promotional levers to pull come Act III (like Netflix for visual component), but I guess what I'm trying to say is that I want her to spend her consumer/media/ and stan attention-capital carefully if we know Act III is the focus.

Who knows, maybe they have this all planned out impeccable and are more data-led than my conjecture-based worries.

We'll see.

No need to overthink this.

The moment she anounces the lead of Act3, the media will be on it, especially since shes going to present a totally new version of herself (both sonically and visually). And who knows? Imagine she leads the lead single with a proper MV to tease some sort of visual experience for the Trilogy. The buzz would be CRAZY around a new Beyonce MV, lbr.

I also don't think it's been added to the big Apple Music playlists yet, which makes its US performance at this stage quite unbelievable! I think the next time they usually update them is on Mondays. I haven't listened to "Donk" in such a long time, so it feels so fresh to me. I really hope we get new versions of "Lost Yo Mind" and "Creole" because I was obsessed with them when I was younger.

I also don't mind a 2027 release as long as it's in Q1 and she hits the road with the tour soon, starting with a Copacabana free show in May. Let me dream

Personally, I don't think 29th is a real pattern, like you only said, two is not a pattern necessarily (tho for a trilogy it can be read as one).

While I agree the anticipation, frustration and confusion was a big part of the hype of the ST drop, I don't think it was planned in a way that they calculated it all - for the most part it was B figuring out what sound she wanted, what spoke to her and when she actually managed to finish the project.

Since then, B has said that she cares about what her projects speak to culturally, artistically and about her as a person who is always growing an evolving. I really think she is still unsure about the 'cultural' moment in which act-iii will drop and what she really wants to land in terms of the 'conversation'. I think times are a bit too chaotic and she is figuring it out and still tweaking to see what will feel right (including the 'when'). We have to be honest that we don't any longer just get albums from B which are just 'a collection of songs' or 'just good music' - her projects are always conceptual and have a lot to say.

Whether or not ST was calculated, she still clearly learnt from the experience and we know this because she's been acting like that ever since (silence on new music, side projects that get her name out there but are not her main event, etc.)

I also do think she is tweaking things, Virgo Queen, she's gonna want this last act to be flawless, and we know she tweaked CC for the better too.

And just like that, she's my mother again. See how easy it is Yonks?jonny5

I'm so happy she's giving a damn about her previous work, I hope this trend will continue. I hate to say it but thank you Shawn Carter for inspiring her

Girl…

Couple things - I'd note that during this trilogy era she has technically released a couple of side tracks; Grown Woman for the ST anniversary before Cowboy Carter, for example. But that felt less out of place given it was in the thick of the fast moving acts I and II, rather than emerging during a drought and obvious behind the scenes scrambles like Donk.

Still, I completely agree this is a quick fix to address the gap between acts and make it feel more intentional. A re-recording is a genius way to fill the gap, though…

Let's be honest, CC the album alienated a lot of the GP. Texas was a big hit that quickly became overplayed and annoying to the GP (a la Pharrell's Happy) and the actual album was a bit too much of a stretch for a lot of fans despite the critical acclaim.

Re recording BDay could give her career a Taylor's Version style boost, allowing lovers of her older work to get back on the hype train. I also think this is a strong indication that act iii will be rock/funk, and sonically tie in nicely to her repackaged BDay project. Think of this like her 'Been Country' for act iii- a way to contextualise her musical history in the rock genre to help legitimise her swing into the field for the next album.

I want her to release, you are my roc on streaming. That song would CHART! I dont care what anyone says, it's a damn timeless BOP!

I still think a proper push of Die With You could've led it to become a real hit with the GP - they were clearly craving a romantic ballad from her because Perfect Duet went off like crazy (and that's not even a good song )

The Renaissance font, the Purple Rain reference and the "Just kicking this little game of mine" lyric do make me feel like this is more than just a B'Day anniversary thing. Also, the press release referencing this cover:

beyonce-swimsuit-2007-february-15-2007-s

"Guitar-pick bikini"

"Bodypainting that rocks"

"Look who's in Elvis bed"

I don't think act iii is coming this year, but reissuing BDay which is her first visual album and the one album that tackles most of the trilogy's sensibilities feels purposeful.

It's part of the trilogy rollout like MY HOUSE, I'll die on that hill.

If it was she'd have pushed it on her main insta grid. This isn't a release related to the mainline trilogy.
