Streaming trends come and go, so I would't pay too much attention to daily streams. She does lack bigger streaming hits, but at the same time it's the game she decided to play. She puts the focus entirely on albums and, for the most part, I think her overall discography numbers are fine and she's got plenty of album tracks with good numbers.

The main issue is she's working against the system which favors the hit single model and playlists and autoplays songs that are already doing well. That's what gives other artists the edge over her numbers, but her pursuit feels legitimate and I don't think she'll change it. I do believe she's laying the correct foundation for the future which is releasing amazing bodies of work that can be rediscovered over and over again; and I do think that Beyoncé, Lemonade, Renaissance and Cowboy Carter are bigger as a concept than any of their individual songs.

I'm critical of Bey when she deserves it. But the way some of you speak of her, you'd think she was doing a 15-minute set at Lovers and Friends, or performing in the parking lot of the Kids' Choice Awards deadbanana2

She said 14 years ago (!!!) in LIBAD that she was done playing the game by the industry's rules. She's still managed to remain incredibly successful and, I'd argue, the most culturally influential pop star on the planet. She may not debut to 1m+, but when she drops music, people are listening to what she has to say. That's what she wants, and she's doing it without killing herself.

the bootlickers and wannabe parkwood employees keep repeating that streams are meaningless, performances are meaningless, promotion is meaningless, entertaining your fanbase is meaningless and that she's above it all.

they think her legacy is set in stone and that she's selling out stadiums until she's 90 but that's simply not the case. the second people stop coming to see her, and at this rate they sooner or later will, she'll scramble and suddenly become active (an OTR II teas).

hate train after hate train, pushing your fans away, not doing anything to gain new ones, hiding your legacy output from the world and acting like a ghost will end up catching up to her. she's not an invincible superhero anymore, not in this day & age and not with the way parkwood handles things. those who think she'll get the same MJ type of treatment and streaming resurgence are in for a rude awakening. people who don't bother streaming her now won't suddenly do it after she's dead and they won't watch Lemonade, Beybowl, RWT, CCT and the million award show performances she keeps deleting either because they won't be able to. but hey, they can listen to I Was Here i guess…

But that is the case though. Her legacy is absolutely set it stone. What are we talking about here? lol

I get the frustrations around album rollouts, streaming, etc but at the end of the day, she doesn't give a damn. That's it. There's nothing more to it lol we have to make peace with that.

To say her legacy isn't solidified is crazy, imo. She will remain one of the most culturally relevant artists to ever grace the stage. She could be 90 years old doing the "uh oh" dance in a walker, and folks would still pack the stadiums out.

My two Fleahive statements of the day.

  1. Why was I Got That by Amil ft. Beyonce music video removed from YouTube?

  2. I'm kinda glad she fell off in the eyes of the geepee. I'm noticing she's being completely left out of celebrity think pieces nowadays and replaced by Taylor swift. They can have their mania. I know they can't handle the backlash like we could!

she literally had her longest-charting Hot 100 hit during the Renaissance era...

sometimes y'all focus too much on one streaming platform and how she compares to artists that are significantly newer and/or blander than her.

she's the 27th most steamed artist (as lead) on Spotify. 7th woman. all the women above her began their music careers at least 8-9 years after Beyoncé, closer to the digital/streaming eras. yet she's still up there! despite atrl and daily streaming threads making you believe she's getting ignored.

Exactly, and how is Cuff It doing now? Her new music may have strong debut numbers, but it isn't winning the longevity game since people are back to streaming Crazy In Love and Halo.

The problem is not that Beyoncé is a streaming flop, but rather her attitude. She just shows up only to scam sell tickets for her concerts and then disappears again, which is not nearly close to being a Prince'd or a Sade'd move, it's a calculated capitalistic one. And Gen Z is simply not into that; they won't listen to your music. We are saying that her catalog might be bigger, as it was ten years ago when Spotify was mostly used by millennials.

In the streaming era, when Rihanna can rechart with an old album track, and even Wacko Jacko is having some of the most streamed songs of the moment, stuff like age is just an excuse imo. And atrl stans do have some valid points: streaming can be a measure of someone's impact and legacy.

I mean, yes, she is free to do whatever she wants, no one is pointing fingers at her. She is an accomplished billionaire who is behaving accordingly.

I co-sign each word though.

I wouldn't take her words at face value, as she is not new to contradicting herself.

Latoya's brother might be having a moment back in the spotlight due to that propaganda fluff piece, but at the end of the day Beyoncé has eclipsed him artistically (much like Janet did in the 90s) + she's not getting eiffel tower'd in the pits of Hell

I just peeped this was her Gold party outfit.

I'd honestly rather go back to rankings than talk about streaming numbers. Especially when the ¿most streamed artist ever? sounds like this

No amount of a streams will ever be able to cover up the vocal ability akin to that of a runner up in a middle school talent show competition bam

Happy rested private family life moving on her own terms yeah whatever blah blah but there's a happy medium as a public figure which she has not achieved. By all means live and act like the Doris Duke of pop (mysterious reclusive billionaire, alternately praised and panned by the GP) but why not just...release your concerts too? Wouldn't hurt you. Why not let some videos stay up on YouTube? Wouldn't hurt you. Stay in the house, we [I] honestly dgaf, but the obsession with Disney-vaulting some of the most vital musical and visual art of the millennium is proving to have adverse effects. Music and art aren't real estate, treating them as such is kinda evil ijbol

This I agree with. My theory is she's hoarding all her performances to release them at a premium one day. I could honestly see her paywalling them and maybe even the visuals on her own website so she retains full ownership and splits none of the profits with a streamer.

I hear you but as someone who saw the value of music decrease substainatially within her career, she properly feels like what she has now isn't even close to what she theoretically should have. So everything she does is a middle finger to what should be equitable? The factr we even have her music on streaming on music upon release is something we would've cheered for in 2013/2016... and that's one of the few ways her hand has been moved in the last decade. I don't see her giving more unless she literally has to ir wants to (i.e. no visuals thus far).

The T.R.M one?

Actually, looking at those billboards, I'm thinking it's Gaga related. The font is very similar to Mayhem. Maybe a deluxe? lol

Nah, she's not doing a deluxe. She's working on the next one, and it definitely ain't coming that soon. I'm thinking it's either Bey or The Weeknd or some random...

#1 rule of luxury brands is artificial scarcity and that's how she has been positioning herself for a while now - as a luxury brand. You don't sell out stadiums over and over in the same places (US & Europe) if your latest performances and concerts are just out there for anyone to watch. People need to be clamoring to see her live, because that's the only way to see her perform and people will run and pay inflated prices just to watch her. That is how she thinks of her brand these days and that's why she moves like that. It's just sucks for us fans, her being elusive, locking her stuff up and not releasing it, removing it or copyright striking whole fan channels of her performances. It's borderline antagonistic towards her fans. The only reason, I feel, we are still putting up with her shenanigans is because the music is still great, if not her best, and she is still an amazing performer. Those 2 things go and she'll have 2 choices: either change her attitude or prepare to sell out out theaters.

I'd sell my firstborn if she invented her own patreon esque website to pay for content. If you're going to be a capitalist be an interesting one! Give me K4NTY Channel, a place to stream your concerts, visuals, performances, interviews, behind the scenes. Mimi is a hag but she always feeds her fans and actually acts like she loves her work. Idgaf about streams and legacy she made it clear but b!ch give me something as a FAN who has rode for you all these years.
