It kills me how the live arrangement is going so hard, like why does this messy song eat liveahh

Love all the Girls but this just shows clearly why B was the lead ....her voice is much more reliable/potent Live and the best pitch ( i guess alot to do with great breathing technique )

thats the worst part about the excruciating wait for her to do something. other than the music there's absolutely nothing to look forward to anymore from her new album releases.

no music videos, no interviews, at best we get 1 or 2 magazine spreads (which can be a mess like that terrible CC Harper's Bazaar spread), no performances or worthwhile appearances, nothing fun for the fans, no actual single treatment outside the meager month on radio that is exclusively awarded to the lead single. the tour will most likely just be RWT/CCT again but with a different shape and it comes a year after the album anyway so it's not like that makes the album's era itself any more exciting.

like last era's peak in terms of fan service being a phone commercial really says it all rip

Agreed. Shes simple not a popstar anymore, shes a recording artist.

I mean, she's made it very clear that that's what she wants to be… She's not misleading anyone tbh.

she kinda does, she can wax poetic and try to make us believe she's mother teresa meets prince meets sade meets kate bush all she wants, but none of those people had shampoo and liquor businesses and none of them go to india or saudi arabia to perform for the rich elite while not touring there for the actual fans once in 20 years.

and for somebody who calls the stage her home she's barely ever home. if she truly loved performing that much she'd find ways to do it on her own terms and not only if somebody offers her 30 million. and as a recording artist, she could release music much more frequently than she does. releasing an album every 2-3 years is below standard these days (not that i want her to release like broomstick or sabrina because good music takes time)

I know that she has nothing to prove and she is right about that but what about doing it just for the love of art. No performances outside of the tours, no music videos, no nothing. Talent that she has should be expose everywhere , instead of that she is drinking whiskey on some island with her 362 kids azealia

I duno how much this affects her, but if we theorize that the way she/her preganancy/Blue were treated is the reason she backed off interviews, perhaps we can understand that the intense scrutiny and nitpicking of everything she does is a potential reason why she keeps it to her concerts and doesn't go outside. Even her not going out side doesn't stop the craziest rumours and vile things said about her. Again, I don't think she's so affected by it after a career filled with this stuff, but at a time when her kids are all almost teenagers, I'm not surprised nor mad that she's doing whatever she wants and focusing on herself (apparently) rather than trying to prove something that has already been proven 20x over.

Just because Beyoncé said she wants to be like Prince or Sade doesn't mean she has to do everything like Prince or Sade.

Girl, she's doing anything but putting out a Prince meets Sade album rip

I said she doesn't have to do everything like them to be like them and your response is she's not making music like them. Yes, she hasn't made an album that sounds like them. But did she say she would?

The actual quote was:

"One day I decided I wanted to be like Sade and Prince. I wanted the focus to be on my music, because if my art isn't strong enough or meaningful enough to keep people interested and inspired, then I'm in the wrong business."

Which has nothing to do with the type of music created.

I just don't understand why we would want to put words in her mouth and then get mad at her for it.

You forgot to mention losing a good chunk of their fanbases because of thinking shes above doing fanservice and thus fadinf faster than needed until they are eventually completely forgotten.

But hey, at least she has her own whiskey and good hair

To imply that Prince and Sade are completely forgotten is a WILD take

but anyway...

Any fan who is entitled enough as to think an artist not doing fan service warrants no longer supporting them was not a real fan of the artist in the first place. They cannot have actually loved their music. They were a fan of the idea of them. Which is why so many are still here complaining. You ARE a real fan of her's. You're not fickle enough to drop her just because your ego isn't stroked or you don't have enough content to keep you occupied. You know that beyond any lack of promotion there is still great art to consume.

She mentioned singers, musicians rip her point was along the lines of "I want to be like them".

Besides, she has a long history of listing them as her influences:

Exploring the Sade conundrum: dinner party soundtracker or timeless muse? | Sade | The Guardian

"As all true music should be".

Etc.

Anyhow, she really gave plenty of clues in that interview, not only with the "a renaissance is coming" line and the paragraph on black cowboys, but also with the photoshoot.

So B7 and B8.

Act III might not have been conceptualized at that time yet.

She still did not say she's making a Prince-Sade hybrid album, nor even just one of them.

She said Sade's music inspires her. Again, she said she wanted to be like them and then went on to be more specific: "I wanted the focus to be on my music" and by complaining that all we have is music, you are underlining that she indeed did what she said she wanted in terms of being like them.

And I think all of us could rather easily cite examples of Prince-inspiration or Sade-inspiration from Beyoncé's catalogue. So I'm not even sure why musical inspiration is a measurement here.

If you think about it, several part of COWBOY CARTER very much contain Sade-inspiration with the way she blends genres especially rock and R&B. The entire outro of II HANDS II HEAVEN when the beat slows down is something Sade could have made. ALLIIGATOR TEARS and JUST FOR FUN also both have the textural softness of a Sade record, just with a country spin. Arguments could be made for PROJECTOR and MY ROSE as well as FLAMENCO.

I dont know nobody who could do FLamenco ( like B ) the Vocals / Yearning sound with the agility and almost throwback tone / specifc sound of Bs voice thats so pretty ...dont know how to explain it but i Loooove when she taps into there .
