I'm on finasteride. I started when I was 29. My hairline wasn't bad, per se. But there was a clear recession when you put pictures of me at 18 next to pictures of me a decade later. So I decided to get on it just to make sure I keep my hairline as is. I definitely feel less libido, but I have never been much of a sexually extroverted person—always hated hookups. But that is something I've noticed about myself. I'm not at "turned on" as I used to be when I see a hot guy. But I don't know if that's also just me being in my 30s now.

I'm on both min and fin but wasn't showing signs before so I can't really speak to the efficacy. Min has made my hair grow really fast and I'm generally hairier but this wouldn't be related to MPB. 

 

As for libido, I do notice a slight change and would say things like depression/anxiety have a stronger influence now than they did before but the effects are not as strong as say regular p0rnography usage.

I'm on it, in combination with minoxodil, and honestly I wish I had started sooner,  But I'm happy nonetheless because it's literally the only reason I still have a full head of hair.

 

I do experience libido loss but nothing alarming for me personally.

 

I've been closely following new drugs/treatments that are being developed, such as PP405, but it'll be years before they hit the market, if they do.

 

You can use natural oils and hairloss shampoos and conditioners all you want, but if you're experiencing genetic hair loss, you need to be on a DHT-blocker. Minoxodil and finasteride (or dutasteride) are the holy grail.

The sexual side effects are blown out of proportion. Doses used for hairline are associated with less adverse sexual effects than higher doses used for BPH (a disorder of the prostate). If you're a relatively healthy male, you will most likely not experience any reduction in libido if you start finasteride 1mg daily 

I took it years ago and it made my dick completely lifeless 

 

Couldn't get an erection for weeks, luckily it came back after I stopped taking it but yeah. Not worth it IMO but everyone's different. 

I use it and I'm fairly certain it has been preventing hair loss for me. I haven't experienced any major side effects either.

Been on it for 6ish months. Definitely noticed an improvement and no sides. If you're losing your hair you should get on it asap!

Everyone will have different reactions/experiences with the medication,

but you should be on some form of DHT blocker if you know androgenic alopecia runs in your family.

I take this because it runs in my family, and I noticed my hair started to thin slightly. So it's a precautionary to keep my hair as it is.

 

I started finasteride in 2016 and had common side effects. It sounds scarier when you read it, but it wasn't crazy for me.

 

- Reduced libido, it's still there but no crazy MORNING WOOD in the night when I'm trying to sleep, So I loved this result 

- Weight gain, not that I went from skinny to huge, but I noticed I can put weight on easily. So I have to watch what I eat.

- Shedding, (like a few days, twice a year) I noticed I have periods where I have slightly more hair fall than usual.

 

In 2023, I switched to dutasteride because I read it supposedly it has better results, but the side effects are supposedly more intense.

For me the sides are pretty much the same, less shedding though. So that's great.

Dutasteride is the IT girl now, and topic minoxidil and i have amazing results. 

I started finasteride and minoxidil in April and I've been really happy with the results so far, I wish I started earlier. Before starting my hair was incredibly weak and was so fragile it would fall out at the slightest touch, every time I washed my hair there would just be strands falling out everywhere. With the medication this never happens anymore, my hair feels so much stronger and healthier, the fact that the fallout has stopped has already helped with the hairloss but I also am experiencing some regrowth too. Though since I am using both, I don't know if this can be attributed more to the finasteride or minoxidil; if you are eager to start treatment you should probably just use both for the best chance of success. I would say now is a good time to start too, you can easily cover up with a hat during the initial shedding phase in these winter months, then hopefully if you respond well to the medication then you could start seeing the benefits by the spring/summer.

 

In terms of the side effects, as some people say it did somewhat slightly lower my libido, however for me this was very minor and was actually moreso a positive. I had a high libido before and I feel that the medication actually helps regulate my hormones rather than subtract, everything still works as it should but is much more intentional, no more random hardness/horniness at inconvenient times, but no issues getting there when you want to. So though this was technically a side effect, its actually been an additional benefit to me.

I've been using it for like 4 years now? My hair loss definitely got reversed, I was thinning and I would say I took it at a good time to halt and reverse some hair loss. Side effect wise, 2 1/2 years in I would say my libido started a bit of a nose dive, it's definitely not nearly as high as it used to be. Contemplating to get my blood work checked out more, but last I checked my free testosterone was below average. Has anyone used topical fin before? I hear that gives less sides (if fin is giving it to me now, might be something else too possibly).

i had to embrace shaving my head. not much else i could do.

The pill form never worked for me, but I use the hims topical spray that has both minoxidil and finasteride. I also inject myself with 5-10 units of GHK-cu peptide every day and take lustriva (it's like 15 bucks on Amazon) every night, and I promise if you follow this formula your hair will grow back. The peptide is expensive but my eyelashes, nails, etc. also grew back thick and fresh so it's worth it imo.

 

My hairline was receding like MGK's pre-hair transplant, and I grew 90% of it back within the past year using this protocol. I can't even begin to describe how much more confidence it's given me, I look five years younger now instead of my age bc the receding hairline was what made me look older and now that f*cker has been ERADICATED!!!!

so many peole reporting side effects if finasteride here when its not even a big sample.. i bet its much more we think

My libido fell off a cliff for like a month and then everything went back to normal. And now I have a luscious mane on my head. Thicker than it has ever been before tbh. The worst side effect imo is the hair on my ass, I had none and now do have to shave a lil bit. I was kinda hoping for a little bit of chest hair but no.

The hair that it regrows is thicker and healthier though. 

I've been on it for 7 years, no noticeable side effects

Wait for PP405 or that miracle Taiwan serum
