Cinderella's Eyes is a cult classic now, but it's kinda sad she flopped back then 

Honestly the label failed her first. It was one of the most disastrous rollouts ever.

But everybody knew Cinderella's Eyes was a cult classic in the making, Nicola did that 

Was it me or was the Queen of Pop herself reheating Beat of my Drum nachos on Give Me All Your Luvin?

Nicola had the marching band and Madonna did the cheerleader vibe, it kinda reminded me of Gwen having the Harajuku Girls and then Fergie having her posse of cholas. Diplo coproduced both Beat of My Drum & ***** I'm Madonna meanwhile Give Me All Your Luvin was coproduced by Madonna, I wonder if Madonna was scouting new producers for MDNA and she did her own take on Beat of My Drum there. 

 

But yeah, crazy how we never got a second album from her, she the Lauryn Hill of pop to me

She just came out at the wrong time. Niche pop artists weren't a thing back then

But seriously, she deserved Cheryl's success. Nicola showed that she was THEE one with artistic vision on Girls Aloud with this album.

Yup. She was the Dawn Richard-level visionary of her group.

 

'Beat Of My Drum' and 'Yo-Yo' sounded like massive, hook-filled, kooky UK hits to me.

After that, I wanted a concept pop album (maybe insane asylum-themed) that was just her and Xenomania, and then an eclectic third album with Lorde's producer Joel Little, Eg White, The Ting Tings, Charli XCX, MNEK, and TMS.

 

If she played her cards right, her Girls Aloud co-write "On The Metro" would be a Top 5 lead single from her multiplatinum fourth solo album.

 

 

I really liked Beat Of My Drum back in the day, but I remember the internet panning it. Lucky Day is fab.

I'm not well versed in the British pop scene from that time or anything Girls Aloud-related but yes, Cinderella's Eyes is a great album

I think the album hasn't aged the best, but it was such a bold step for a former girl band member at the time. However, she had all the momentum to release a sophomore after winning the Masked Singer and squandered it, so maybe the question is did Nicola fail us dd.

id love to come in here and say yes, however honestly she failed us, and ultimately herself .

 

the album had a cult following from day ONE. i know because i was there. it was an amazing album and a niche set of gays knew it was special. she could've carried on dropping music and building that core fanbase as a solo-ist, she could've built a Carly Rae kind of fanbase. she dropped the ball unfortunately!
