  1. Why is "they released a bad album on purpose so the next one has a redemption arc" such a popular narrative? Name one time this has ever been true for any artist.
  2. oh great, now she's gonna use apotheosis in a lyric
  3. John played three still unreleased songs during his SOLO tour in 2023: Drifting In The Neighborhood Why Anyone Has To Go John seems to like Drifting the most of these. He performed it a dozen times during that tour and in 2023 he was asked by fans if Drifting would be on the album and he said yes. Drifting is also the only song of these to have already been registered on GMR. The lyrics of In The Neighborhood and Drifting in particular seem pensive and bittersweet, with John reflecting on feeling left behind.
  4. I don't understand what people's expectations were for this. I think the album communicated what she wanted to communicate and these tracks neither add nor subtract anything from that but then again has a deluxe album ever moved that needle in either direction? only the biggest artist in the world can create this much discourse for what is basically bonus content.
  5. John Mayer's still upcoming album has been completed and first single is TBA. Two days ago, in response to fans, John left the following comment on his instagram: What is known about the album: John has said the production on the album would be "straightforward" with no "tricks" and songs would be more "lyric-dense", which hints to a return to his singer-songwriter origins. As of a month ago he said he had recorded around 16 songs. Legend Steve Jordan (Rolling Stones, Continuum producer) said he had tracked drums on six of those songs. Jordan also said he had heard the album, called it "fantastic" and said it had some of John's "best songwriting in years". Production by John Mayer and Blake Slatkin. This will be his first album released since leaving Columbia records and it is presumed it will be an independent release. On August 29, John said he was mastering the first single, and that the release was imminent. In his words, it was just a "number of weeks away". When asked how he felt about the song he said "it's cool and I like it a lot". Andy Cohen characterized it as amazing and very catchy. ComplexJohn Mayer Says His First Single in Five Years Is Just 'W...John Mayer has revealed that he plans to drop a new singl... Posters reading "solo - full band - trio - 9.28.26" have begun appearing in US Cities (LA, Austin, Chicago), this one in New York: Some fans believe he will announce the album and a tour, followed by a single the days following, similar to the roll out for Battle Studies. The RUMORED unconfirmed name of the album is "Full Circle".
