  • Many others have pointed it out as well, but I've said since before the song dropped that people are tired of this throwback 80's soundscape. It's not fun anymore

  • ATRL praised it    but still a big bop

it's cute but not a smash like it doesn't sound very catchy or memorable as her other pop singles

How are any good songs expected to thrive in a musical climate that uplifts animated kpop groups and duds like Ordinary.

Doja's star is fading a bit. Since Planet Her numerous pop girls have emerged (Tate, Sabrina, Chappell) which chipped away at her audience. She also didn't help herself with her 2023 antics.

Oh and blowing up during covid and not being able to properly tour Hot Pink and Planet Her for sure hurt her ability to build a fan base properly.

It's too early to be writing off this song or even Doja. It's doing better than Attention.

It's a boring nothing-burger song that sounds the same from the first 5 seconds to when it's over. You also can't understand what she's saying. :deadbanana: A huge part of music is being able to hum a simple melody or lyrics which this song has none of. God awful mixing.

Doja's soft vocals also work best when the instrumental matches that energy, not some snappy repetitive beat that drowns her out.

This. Makes no sense we had a DEAD summer and she waits until we have Sabrina, Taylor, etc.? Like it's so dumb.

IMO her desire to go "against the tide" and purposely push away pop fans by ditching the blown out wigs, feminine looks, etc. really hurt her brand. She bagged a few hits with Scarlet but really alienated her fanbase and lost a lot of casual pop fans. Her antics from 2023 really did hurt her brand more than she expected it to.

The way I didn't revisited this song meanwhile I remember overplaying kiss me more, need to know, you right, streets, PTT and agora hills

However jealous type is a skip it's not a bad song it's just so basic like she puts a 80's instrumental and sings over it

I agree with the comments saying that the song/production drowns her out and the lyrics not being easy to sing along to works against her. I remember having KMM and PTTR on repeat for months because their choruses (and even verses) were infectious. That's what was missing with JT.

She has no fanbase.

Acts like Doja, Katy, Lizzo, Megan Strainer, etc. are nothing without GP support.

Katy doesn't belong in the category as the others, she still carries significant GP support - see The Lifetimes Tour and Smile era streams.

another frustrating element is that she had soooo much momentum going for her with Planet Her and I think she could've secured one more era like that if she wanted to, but like she said, Scarlet was a fart she had to let out. Had she solidified her space in the industry a little better with one more prominent pop/rap era, she would still feel like one of the main players despite changing up her sound

i wish she didn't do that 'i hate my fans' antic during the scarlet era

this song is honestly so good, it deserves more success and from the snippets i've heard, it seems like Vie is going to be her best album

She needs modern pop songs with rapping verses like Paint the town red and agora hills

she should've went for the german rave sound instead of 80s trend

Reminds me when Dua said RO was gonna give German rave… but it was more 80s shlop

We're TIRED

This is the image that comes from the previous images, which are already 80 years old and complete.

someone said this early on and that it would be an issue and I didnt take it too seriously but I genuinly think they may be right...they said it's hard to understand what she is saying in the song's chorus especially which tbh if you didnt know the lyrics or heard the song when it leaked otns before it's official release I think is a genuine and valid criticism. Her annunciation is HORRIBLE on this song's chorus and the chorus is the most important part of a pop song . It's the part that makes it a hit or not (most times).....
