Do influencers work on you?

Featured Replies

Did you purchase something because you saw it in the videos of an influencer? Like the stanley cup, the upmarked melatonin, or bloom.

I have been reading about a movement to start calling them "advertisers" because their job is to influence you to buy stuff.

ermmm maybe, it's not in such a braindead way though i don't think??

the sunset lamp for example, ive always had an autism special interest in coloured/ambient/mood lighting . so yeah i was influenced to buy that but it matched me very well (and i still have it on 24/7, 4 years later :rip:)

then there's stuff like certain vitamins but ill always go and do my own research and look at what actual doctors are saying and look at Reddit and i wont be buying them through affiliate links for sure

Only if I was already inclined to buy what they are selling.

Only the health ones, and the well documented ones, usually the ones that correct the clowns

No beauty influencer has ever made buy anything those are super fake

Only with fragrances and nothing beyond that. And even then, I'm only 'influenced' by their opinion if my taste in parfums is similar to theirs or said fragrance has notes I'm interested in, any way. Not that I really need anymore parfums. :rip:

Back when Youtube was in the Beauty Guru era, I wanted to buy so many very expensive palettes and makeup products, but I didn't have any money. I'm SO glad because the chance that I would even have used it was slim, I would have wasted so much money and I was definitely influenced to buy it by watching all of those MUAs. My friend actually bought so many hyped products, and she haven't touched a lot of it in 10 years atp :deadbanana: It would've 100% been me as well.

Not like that, but I do use them as tools for inspiration. I check out some influencers for outfit ideas that fit my style and vibe. Same goes for furniture/decor.

If I'm planning a trip I search the location I'm about to stay in to see what "normal" people post about it. It gives me a more realistic idea of what kind of clothes should I prepare, places to eat, etc.

I don’t think I’ve ever bought a product highlighted by an Influencer. But I have gone to restaurants that an Influencer will rave about if I see the Yelp reviews confirm it’s worth the visit.

Recently I have been influenced on tiktok to purchase viral products. Like I just ordered a bag of Swedish candies bc I kept seeing them all over my FYP :chick2: they are so good tho, so it was money well spent.

I also buy some health products on tiktok shop and have also purchased some pretty cool toys for my nieces and nephew based on videos I saw.
