I was being a music nerd, and was checking out Donna Summer. And I saw she had this crazy ass single run of classic after classic. Just nonstop hits. And all I can think of was how the gays back then must've been gagging. 

 

From 1978-79, she had 8 consecutive top 5 hits, half of them peaking at #1.

I was just listening to Bad Girls (album). A classic

The streak of albums with Giorgio is unmatchable to this very day

 

What a beautiful surprise this thread was! I expected some bebe rexa/rita ora or similar entering the thread

 

But yes, an immaculate run. She doesn't get the recognition she deserves for her incredible discography, voice and contribution to music. 

MacArthur Park is truly a religious experience. I was gagged when I first found out that it was a cover. Donna will always remain one of the GOATs.

Sometimes I wonder why isn't Donna credited for being the popgirl blueprint like Madonna is? She literally came before her. 

Yes, I'm glad to see some appreciation for it. I don't think there's any better singles run in history, not even from my own fave. Donna's 70's work is immaculate.
