From Miley's Hannah Montana days up until around 2016-ish, Smilers were everywhere. They were a big fanbase on social media. Nowadays, I basically never see anyone even talk about Smilers as a fanbase or in any discussions when it comes to stan wars.

 

I've also noticed a rapid decline in Miley Cyrus profile pictures, twitter pages, etc.

 

So what happened to the Smilers? Does anyone here still identify as one? BTW This isn't a hate thread, I'm just curious if I'm just not seeing it but they're actually still very active...

I think her trashing her albums everytime a new one comes out also doesnt help

I feel like miley is beloved by pop fans but she's not really many people's #1 fav these days

Constantly down talking your past work + having a lazy ass work ethic along with not touring and releasing a bad album like SB doesn't help.

Ya you pretty much need to be an influencer lowkey to succeed. Insta, tiktok, X, touring, appearances, etc.

I'm so sick of these bitter hags on ATRL complaining about her not touring. She explained multiple times her voice and mental health can't handle a tour at least for now. You do realize this is her job right? I'm sure your lazy ass is putting your health on the line for your 9-5 at the call center. Grow up!

I just am explaining WHY she doesn't have a fanbase it's not that serious get help 

after bangerz + dead petz and the lack of touring/social media presence miley never held onto the hardcore fans she made with disney like demi or selena

 

even on atrl im pretty sure miley had the smallest fanbase thread on the classic site amongst the three.

The build-up between More To Lose to Easy Lover was very fun. 

 

Miley said 2026 will be a dramatic shift in her career so now it's a case of waiting to find out what that will be.

yeah touring too but selena and ari doesnt tour just as much as miley but are still solid names in pop music

 

miley just doesnt have consistent social media presence tbh there's literally hundreds of thousands of new pop stars/wannabe popstars coming so anyone can be forgotten without the right media presence

 

miley is an icon and will forever be one of the most iconic and successful of all time though. she'll always be there

we're still here 

 

i know she can't tour but i think if she did some festival dates or something it would go a long to revive the fandom. live shows remind people why they stan!

The Smilerz really were the most crazy fanbase after the Little Monsters got humbled in 2013. I remember when many of Lady Gaga's more casual fans became Smilerz when "We Can't Stop" dropped. Who remembers that one girl who dressed up as Miley and went to a Bangerz concert and started twerking in front of protestors who claimed Miley was going to hell?

 

Yeah, the OG Smilerz are gone, I remember the ones who used to DM Miley on Twitter had their whole page dedicated to Miley, and now they don't even care what Miley does.

 

 

 

Does anyone remember the Kermit campaigns that Smilers did back in 2013?

I don't think Ariana is a good comparison. Ariana has done 3 world arena tours since Miley's last tour ended in 2014. Miley hasn't toured in over 10 years. Ariana's last tour ended in Dec 2019. Ariana toured all her albums except for Positions (released during a global pandemic nobody was allowed to tour) and eternal sunshine (Wicked press + award season). Miley also pretty much confirmed she has no plans to tour again. Ariana has said she will tour again, she was planning on it this year but award season happened. 

 

Miley can't sustain a fanbase if she gives them nothing to engage with or look forward to, touring in the best way to re-engage a fanbase but she doesn't want to so it is what it is. Social media engagement can only do so much. I mean it only got Selena to the B-list of pop stars, she was never close to Ariana's level or Miley in her prime. 

 

They got brave and then the numbers came… 

there's nothing to smile about anymore when Miley keep dragging all their favorite music
