Azealia is clearly someone unwell and victim to horrific abuse growing up in a clearly harmful household by her mother. Most of these posts lamenting these figures ironically do more posturing than the alleged support being given. Like... Azealia is a flop! She can't even get bussy soap shipments out on time! Sales are down! ddd She clearly doesn't have meaningful support. 

 

I'm not even someone who is a fan of MIA (my post above is poking fun at how.... unique her rhyming schemes are), but her background, her family's history in regards to  experiencing war, and the way the American music industry fetishized her for being a brown refugee yet also knee-jerked away from her for... being a brown refugee are not shocking reasons why people would try to sympathetic with such figures and understand how or why they keep making mistakes.

 

Like the knee-jerk to label her a Zionist is odd given what she has said about Israel appears to be hatred for them aiding Sri Lanka in its civil war. It's seem silly to assume a famous Tamil singer would be a Zionist when her public health views are on their own enough to criticize.

She had a unique story to tell and she was an incredibly creative artist at her peak. /\/\/\Y/\ is flawless, innovative and one of my favorite albums of all time.

3 almost perfect albums and a almost perfect mixtape and Matangi is a classic too at this point / i even like her Skrillex era songs.

I would encourage you to watch her documentary Matangi/Maya/M.I.A, it's free on YouTube. It gives much more depth and explanation to her life story and shows the extreme events she had to go through.

her path from boundary-pushing, trailblazing provocateur and musician to absolute ******* dumbass who can't release good music to save her life needs to be studied.

MATA is a great album. AIM was bad tho.

I've always liked her instrumentals but there is something about her voice and delivery that really puts me off.

I really believe the support Paper Planes got was partially due to the Obama era political propaganda around 2008, propping her up as an exotic immigrant. It was like a green card infomercial, you get what I mean?
