Country is her roots, how is she going to mess that up? IkI is from a children's soundtrack skull of course it's going to be more basic and straightforward

yes heart that's a reassuring perspective hippo I really really hope so.

Ugh I can't wait to see what she does next, it's always so exciting when the first year of an album coming out is over and you just KNOW the next one is definitely in production zendaya

Is this a safe space for me to voice a TayFear?

My fear is that she's seeing the success of IKIIKY (at least in the US) and she's like

"oh this is just great, this is the exact type of country music my audience now wants from me I guess, hi Jack, yes, please give me another 15 of those, including these wonderfully cheesy mouthorgans and saxophones, YAY!"

and while I can acknowledge that IKIIKY is a cute song and it does have success, I will cry more than I did with Showgirl if she releases a "feel good on your commute to work, salary slaves!"-type-of-album full of these types of songs

Like, I'm ACTUALLY scared about this

I do generally think her next step into country will be more in line with more traditional country sounds/writing with some experimentation with less conventional chord sequences than the country songs she put out in her first 4 albums. I think sonically we will probably hear more harmonicas and 60s/70s country sounds than the bouncy pop-rock country of her earliest albums.

I think a song like Better Man (Taylor's Version), while having a more conventional chord sequence and structure than a song like IKIIKY, is the kind of country she'll veer into on TS13. I for one would love TS13 to be somewhere between the kind of country found on RED and the sounds of the 70s female singer-songwriter acoustic pop (Carole King, Carly Simon, Fleetwood Mac).

We need cowboy like ME!s, speak nows, re-ee-eds, ivy, even no body no crimes would be great. She did so much country on evermore that im confident her adult yee haw material will be great

From your mouth to Taygod's ears! Both of these would absolutely **** me up! Especially having more Ree-eee-eeds and maybe even State of Graces OMG and of course CLM, or NBNCs... I'd die.

Could even be her 5th AOTY

blackoutbaby

Or, as I have been manifesting for months, some Sheryl Crow vibes uggghhhhhhh my poor heart

If she wanted to play it safe and go for the perfect combination of critical acclaim and swiftie mania, she could just record essentially 10 new All Too Wells and make that the album. Not exactly revolutionary but it would make for a fitting TS13. Passionate grown-up guitar rock disguised as country would be a welcome move in my opinion.

I hope it is actually!

Jack and aaron are her best collaborators, yall can't convince me otherwise.

We used to have artist/producer duos back in the day all the time, idk why this is always treated differently. He gave her big hits, alot of her best album cuts, and her best albums period along with 2 AOTYs.

if she, Jack, and aaron produced a whole country album together (like they did with Betty, ivy, hits different), it would be her best work but she refuses to let them be together too much for some reason even though aarons real instruments balance Jack's synth sound really well.

All too well 1.3 hour version

i think people look at producers differently now cos their role has changed, they're so much more actively involved at a songwriting level that it's not so much like george martin and the beatles, you know what yr getting from a jack album that extends to a bit more than a vibe and some studio trickery (tbh i'm of the opinion that dessner is much more of an issue, i like him with some other artists but not with taylor)

i hate to say it but it doesn't matter what she puts out atm, fans and haters are gonna both dislike it.

haters are gonna dislike whatever she puts out regardless, and this new wave of fans lets themselves get swayed by haters and want to prove how "objective" they are about tay's music. "look!!! i can hate my fave's music too!!!"

if folklore or 1989 came out today most of her fans and critics would hate them.

I wouldn't bet on her beating Ella Langley. That being said, she rarely does anything without it meaning something. Confirming her attendance at the CMAs is (to me at least) a pretty huge statement and as good as solidifies her next musical move being a full return to country.

Listened to Wi$h Li$t, Wood and Honey for the first time in a while and why was I lowkey gagging

You read her stans to filth sis celestial5(not you guys here lol)

why do alot of them like doing this? They spread hate and criticism more than the obsessive people that hate her.

"ShEll NeVer ToP foLkloRe" "WhY dOesNt shE donATe moNeY" (even when shes been silently -not making a big show of it- donating since the beginning of her career ) likeskull

For sure it was a GP album and i like it too!

I feel like if she just pushed eldest daughter to the end or replaced it, that it would've been better recieved cause everyone lingers on that 1 song, everything else is good basic gp pop music.

(Actually romantic is a bop idc what any Twitter loser says, sis finally stood up for herself yet gets the blame thrown on her)

Wow I didn't know swifties hated ED that much either lol.

Anyway, I still don't get the hate bc 1989 was also a GP-catered album and it's a fan favorite (not to say TLOASG is near 1989 in its quality, but clearly both have basic moments and was targeted to the broadest audience possible)

Or, it's just a part of her Oscar campaign. I don't think it's necessarily anything more than that.

I'm excited for a return to country music if that's what she chooses! I've thought ts13 was gonna be a return to country since maybe the folkmore or midnights era as many others have. Lets be real this album WILL get attacked from the moment it's announced. I've already seen lashings and it hasn't even been properly hinted at yet.

Taylor not needing social media approval while still having success and being respected by legends really breaks people who have deluded themselves into thinking they are tastemakersbibliahh

Anyways I have faith she'll deliver a great return and gag her dedicated hater fanbase!

Yes! Hope they reconnected because of songwriters hall of fame induction and got back into writing. Nathan Chapman got invited to her wedding. Maybe they had a reunion!!! TS13 being an album that's fearless like with perhaps some aaron country indie songs mixed in would be legit.
