It kills me how Twitter users think everyone on ATRL is an insider, meanwhile we have at best 2 of them on the forum who are reliable and they rarely get Taylor info ahead of time :bibliahh:

Why do people engage with artists they don't like . I couldn't imagine camping in a Bieber thread and keeping up with his every move... I just ignore him We must pray for the victims of Taylor Swift

Getaway Car for rep back in 2017 when it made some cute numbers because it was fan favourite. Exile for folklore. Also Daylight for Lover.

Oh yes for sure!

Exile could've definitely been one of her big classics and most streames songs with some radio attention.

Paper Rings could've been a success with a video or even just an Eras Tour performance.

The re-recorded Clean also sounds like a hit to me!

Omg how could I forget about Paper Rings :jonny5: I also think it would've been a smash.

Hey swifties, what is considered Taylor's biggest missed opportunity for a hit/single?

My vote

This has always screamed lead single material to me

yeah same I mentioned it literally 1-2 days ago in another topic,  Paper Rings, I think he knows and Death by a thousand cuts always sounded like smashes to me. Imagine if they were the 3 singles together with Lover lol. Lover would be bigger than 1989 I fear.

edit: and that's not even counting Cruel Summer lol.

Is when she's announcing the September relase

She really gave us one of her top 5 videos ever and then left the rest of the album to rot... trust she will be dealt with

The way the first 3 TTPD tracks all have the most gorgeous outros, a track run most pleasing to me

I really think it was supposed to be an all-encompassing TTPD video/single, hence the easter eggs and it being used for all the Spotify clips. If TTPD had a real era, the video concept  might've been different :celestial5:

Maybe she tried to do that but my hunger was not satiated, the crowd was chanting MORE! I fear

Besides what everyone has already mentioned, Sparks Fly would've definitely gone #1 if it had Mine's spot.

I have a pet theory that Taylor sometines thinks Sparks Fly was the lead single for Speak Now... it was the first song on the SN tour, it had a spot on Red tour setlist, it was the song she played after announcing SNTV, etc.

Meanwhile she's fumbled the lyrics to Mine so many times :deadbanana4:

She sees people stanning Miranda Cosgrove's seminal debut album & thinks they're talking about her song :gaycat2:

Anyway I just wanna post my submission:

This would've been a huge classic by now if it was a single with a nice MV :jonny5:

definitely exile, followed by snow on the beach, they were both doing so well in europe and had they been announced as singles, other countries would have started to follow

Should've been the 2nd single yes. Cardigan did her job :gaynetcat4:

Every day closer to the TS12 announcement in August

we-love.gif

The single changes I would have made from their most recent albums:

Lover
1. Paper Rings (set the tone for the album, moving away from the rep sound and presenting the theme)

The rest remains the same.

Folklore
1. Cardigan
2. August (would have been a nice push for the album in August and would have had two hits on the charts simultaneously).

Evermore
1. Willow
2. Tis' the Damn Season (same as with August, would have been a good push for the album during the holidays).

Midnights
1. Anti-Hero (released during the VMAs).
2. Lavender Haze (released with the album).
3. Karma
4. You're On Your Kid (closes the era and serves as a tribute to the first year of the Eras Tour)

TTPD
1. Fresh Out The Slammer (controversial after Joe's breakup, but would have been a good introduction to the topics of the album, leaving a difficult relationship to enter one that would leave her more hurt, premiered at the Grammys)
2. Fortnight (continues the theme of that short-lived relationship she entered, with the album release)
3. Down Bad (closes the arc, because it's already over, a nice black and white video with an abduction theme and premiered at the VMAs)
4. I Can Do It (in December and closes the Eras Tour with the announcement of the documentary closing the tour)

I really long for a Antonoff-less (or at least Antonoff-lite) TS12. I just can't be doing with any more lazy, lethargic synth production. We need real instruments, full bands, catchy earworm ostinatos, riffs, and melodies in the instrumentals as well as the actual vocal. I just would love if she could try to have her instrumentals as timeless and powerful as her storytelling and not have an album where the sound of so many songs just blur and blot into one big, muted, grey, lifeless synth puddle that goes nowhere she hasn't been countless times before.

But daddy we love HER :clap3:

She was really in her storytelling right here, and I love an extended metaphor something fierce

The way this event was a watershed moment. Lives were changed.
