The original vocals were charming in Fearless to go back to.

Speak Now and Red… no value in returning to them.

Right? The Jack hate makes NO SENSE. The man produced Cruel Summer and August, two songs that are massive fan favorites yet the same fans want to pretend he has no talent :rip:

willow is sooooo close to 1B streams! Y'all better stream it! :khalyan2:

For me, two things are true at once.

Jack is a very talented producer and has produced countless amazing songs with Taylor. At the same time, I want his involvement with TS12 to be minimal because I'm getting tired of their duo - I say this as a huge TTPD defender. And I hope whatever involvement he does have is a departure from his recent works and more in line with, idk, early Bleachers music? I want some anthemic, high energy smashas from him.

Also, I can guarantee you that whatever he produces on TS12, one of those songs will be another fan favorite… it's like clockwork.

Another week in the Top 5 which is difficult to get, not everybody has a million opening, multi-week #1 and #5!

And especially for an album released 8 years ago. Go, blondie, go!

Also, something else I feel there should be a middle ground on is the discussion surrounding "Jack needs to go because he's ruining her productions" vs. "it's her will that things sound like they do".

My take, as someone who is fond of Jack, is that it's a mix of these sentiments. Taylor likes the productions he gives her and therefore they only happen because she wills it to be. On the other hand, I think some fault lies with Jack for the songs that could've gone much harder. She'd really benefit from a new collaborator to push her further and offer her alternate/fresh productions that Jack might not.

She's the type of artist who grows the most artistically whenever she works with someone new and unexpected. See: Aaron on folklore. And it's because, while she only chooses the productions she likes, she tends to get pushed into new territory.

With that said, I don't think she needs a new collaborator on TS12. Max's involvement seems likely, and I honestly think he will be on a very large chunk of the album. And I know some people may be terrified of the concept of their reunion, but I'm confident Max will bring his best since he's working with the best. I'm no Max shooter at all but I have high hopes. She just needs someone who can produce big pop songs, like, I feel that's the vibe she is about to revisit while giving it a fresh twist.

There's this interesting thing where her recent albums have been influenced by which rerecordings she was making concurrently.

Fearless TV -> evermore ended up being her most country-influenced album in a decade, and served some effortless Fearlessesque harmonies

Red TV -> Midnights became an album focused on reminiscence with multiple songs directly connecting to her past work

Speak Now TV -> Tortured Poets had that same sort of wordy binge-writing-as-emotional-purging energy

Would seem to indicate that TS12 will be 1989 influenced. But what is it about 1989 that will influence it? The forced optimism? The sense of liberation? The quest for cultural domination? The hit chasing? The sonic cohesion? The neat and tidy quality controlled tracklist?

And where does the debut rerecording influence enter the picture?

All the **** puta got always gets thrown back to the haters. I can't at this album:

1. Panned - Retroactive acclaim, no Taylor's Version required.

2. Turned off the fans - 1.2M opening, last 2M pure-seller of the 2010s. 350M stadium tour.

3. Flop - Getting close to diamond, no deluxe. 10B streams on Spotify alone.

4. Front-loaded - Over 300 weeks in the BB200.

5. Inauthentic, unrelatable, bad music - Cult classic status.

I am with you on all these points except Red & Midnights which is the only reach here.

All of the above hopefully. :gaycat2:

No, but seriously, I'm expecting another pop domination attempt. I think it'll be a bit like 1989 with less surface level lyricism. Nothing wordy, ready for pop radio, but still more Swiftian than most of 1989.

I can also see it having a little bit more of an electronic/industrial edge like reputation, since we know she at least attempted to re-do it.

I don't know where Debut would come in. Perhaps there will also be some rock influences on TS12, which I know might sound unrelated since Debut is full-on country. But like, maybe more real instruments?

A pop-synth-electronic-industrial-rock odyssey for TS12 sounds quite enticing :gaycat2:

It would be so funny if TS12 was a debut influenced country album and the only impact of 1989 was a revival of the #squad

I would live for it and pop swifties would seethe and I would live for that too.

I fear the influence wrought by the re-recording of 1989 can be very clearly felt in the first five TorchiPo tracks :giraffe:

But I want TS12 to serve PopMegasmashArtisticExcellenceHitSingles.mp3, so I will happily support a link to the 1989 of it all.

1989 TV vault already birthed Midnights. The gag is that most people think it's the other way around.

The 3AM version was originally going to be TS10 but then she got inspired and made Midnights. And we cheered!

I surmise the same is going to happen with TS12. The tracks she made with Sounwave in late 2023 are going to end up on the deluxe coming out in the fall for extra holiday sales.

I've been thinking the same thing. In terms of the standard album we are going to get - she probably scrapped whatever she was working on pre-April 2024, tbh. I'm sure we'll get the Sounwave songs from pre-TTPD on a deluxe, but I wouldn't be surprised if the standard album is like 80% Max and co. (Elvira, Payami, Ilya, Görres/Holter, unexpected Swedish producers). I also wouldn't be totally shocked if she relegated Jack to the deluxe along with Sounwave, or at least got Max to spice up whatever they cooked up together. :giraffe:

The concept of her putting Jack on the back burner may sound unthinkable, but the precedents tell us she would do it. Jack has 1/17 songs on evermore, and then she relegated Aaron to the Midnights deluxe.

I'm ready to be proven wrong whenever TS12 comes to fruition, especially since this all hinges on the speculation that Max is involved - heavily at that. But it's just a gut feeling, just like how I felt it in my bones that TS10 would be 100% Jack and TS11 would be a solid mix of him and Aaron.

That's also my guess. It seems she started working on TS12 right after finishing TTPD. She began this project in NYC, but we haven't seen her at Electric Lady Studios since February 2024. Between February 2024 and the start of the European leg of the tour, she spent a lot of time in LA, where Jack has a new recording studio. It's possible she continued to work with Jack and his team in LA during this period. However, after the start of the Eras tour in Europe, it seems she began working with Max and his team, continuing until Spring 2025, when a producer from Max's team accidentally mentioned they were finishing up Taylor's project. After returning from Europe, she spent time in KC and NYC, but not LA, and we didn't see her at Electric Lady Studios again. So, it doesn't seem like she worked with Jack. Therefore, I think it's possible she has songs she produced with Jack from October 2023 until April 2024, and songs she produced with Max from April 2024 until April 2025. So, I agree. It seems likely she started working with Jack and his team, then realized she needed something fresh and began working with Max while in Europe. They continued to work together until the project was finished. Therefore, Jack's work is probably on side B this time, while Max gets side A.
