I'm not surprised this isn't doing well, the only surprising thing about this is that Doja released this generic Weekend ripoff song that has been done to death - if the entire album sounds like this then she should just shelve it until 2047 when it might sound fresh again.

Don't get me wrong, I love this song. But on first listen, I was kinda disappointed. It grew on me, but it's FAR from the quality Doja usually delivers. It seemed like mainstream pop was veering away from leaning so far into the 80's synthpop sound these days, I think Doja is a little late to the party with this one. Hope it's a hit though!

I fear some of ya'll wouldn't be making the comments your making if this was a straight out the gate smash 💀 Mind you it's only been out 2 weeks and still very much could grow to eventually become one !

I was waiting for her to tap into the 80s/funk/disco sound again. I know earth, wind and fire are a huge inspiration for her so I'm excited for what's to come

This.  Exactly why I'm sporadically getting on here and Twitter this era.  I refuse to let success stans ruin this era for me.  

 

Everybody loved the song when she teased in Marc Jacobs + Outside Lands, but once it didn't debut high they ready to move on or critiquing the production.   
 

This is the single.  This is it.  Maybe a promo track before album drops.  But yeah…they not budging.  And I lowkey respect RCA for still pushing + not switching at last min.

I was thinking the same, ofcourse it was incredible, but something was off....

 

I think I almost prefer Westlands. Maybe the song calls for something more stripped?? 

 

Thinking about it, I think I don't like the mix they used.

Loved the VMA performance. Not sure why Law Roach was being shady during it.

 

 

 

She is an absolutely great performer but I dont like this trend of having backing vocals and not singing half of the song. Either have full playback of pre-recorded vocals or sing, like this we dont hear half a song 

yeah the sound was the only off thing about the performance but I think that's more on MTV than Doja.

disagreed, she was dancing for a good 70% of the track which warrants the backing vocals, she chipped in vocally when needed
