Idk what it is but this is the first time I'm actually not excited for new Doja. I've played JT maybe 10 times and I can't even remember a single line from it or how it goes. Hoping that'll change when the album drops. The 70's 80's aesthetic is so played out to me. 

I truly feel like they should have released this back in May and let it slow burn through the summer. It's just not the kind of song that could go viral on TikTok, so they should have let it simmer on radio and build the streaming through out the months and it could have probably smashed by now. Also this would have given them the opportunity to try another single before the album if this was truly dead by August. 

 

It's still a 10/10 for me and Cards is coming

the album being good will save this from being a complete disaster but this era went from attempted commercial resurgence to cult classic real quick... I hope she doesn't get mad if it flops and gives us Scarlet 3 next year as a punishment

I should clarify it's not the music i'm worried about, it's the antics that will certainly come along with it.

This rollout is boring.. she needs to engage with her audience. She's not Beyonce/Taylor, she can't just put out variants and expect people to listen to the album when it drops.  Imo they should have dropped at least one more single before announcing her album since Jealous Type flopped. Unfortunately she's still more of a singles artist, so dropping an album without a hit is gonna be risky for her. She needs to go on live, post the snippets on tiktok and talk to her fans.

y'all need to relax…the album comes out next Friday.  Why would there be fanfare two weeks out from the album? Please be for real.  
 

Now if she's nowhere to be seen during release week, yes, drag her.  
 

But she's already done more for this album than she did for Planet Her or Scarlet (club preview at Oasis, Outlands, vinyl variants, Club Vie release parties, phone booth teasers, Vie hotline, VMAs).

Edit: Not to mention MAC partnership which clearly will be some commercials or some sort of makeup drop.

no like i don't get it..the album is up for presave on tiktok i thought she was gonna tease multiple snippets on there with the app promoting them

That's lowkey why I want them to push next single to Urban + Rhythmic, while keeping this one going.  But imma trust the process lol.

It is fascinating that TikTok is a big part of why she blew up but she doesn't really use her own account effectively.

Pretty much all artists hate TikTok and wish it was like back in the day where you'd go on TV to do promo.
