Do you think it's fair to use the "solo" drag against artists? It was created after Xtina's Moves Like Jagger went #1 to try and drag her. That Diamond smash ended up bigger than discographies and now every artist isn't releasing only solo songs anymore.

I think 'solo' in general is a silly. But there is a difference that should be noted between having a feature on a track and a duet imo. 
 

There's one thing to have a rap verse or whatever but when you sing equal or even less than half of the song...

Btw, I agree that Moves Like Jagger's success has almost nothing to do with Xtina... She's a rare case where I think the "solo" argument makes sense.

 

As for the others, it's just absurd, because normally the successful duets have something to do with both artists, even if its not exactly 50%/50%. The only one that bugged me a bit was Perfect Duet, because the Hive bragged a bit about it and it was already a really successful song, so I think that case is way more about Ed. But that's just anecdotal, there's no question Bey is a juggernaut wheter it's solo or on duet.

No. What bugged you with this (and Mi Gente Remix) was the fact Ed Sheeran & J Balvin/Willy William reached out for collaboration months prior to the release not expecting her to say yes, and she agreed. So many of you attempted to use the argument that she hopped on because the songs were already successful.... as you did above, when she was really the secret ace (3 for 3) needed if the song was circling the top 10 and needed a boost into the top 5 or higher. (As for the third --"Savage (Remix)" -- Beyonce also acted quickly when she saw hometown breakout Megan's first chance at a mainstream hit slipping away when "Savage" plateaued at #14 on the Hot 100 chart for a week or two and began to trend downward.) 

 

All 3 remixes had enough chart points to chart on their own in several markets and achieve their own certifications, her version attracted airplay from new formats (Perfect Duet / Mi Gente Remix - massive boosts on Rhythmic Radio, Savage Remix - Pop Radio), and most importantly, her version's boost had a immediate effect (2 #1s, one Top 3 on the Hot 100). Nothing less than 4x Platinum amongst the trio of remixes.  The most important remix of the 3 is now even a multiple-Grammy winner. Finally, the proceeds for 2 of them also went directly to charity, so the argument y'all tried to trot out next after they peaked in the Top 5 (with her appearing due to the points increases) about greed was a moot point.

The only people on ATRL that are mad about « solo hits » are from fanbases whose fave(s) solo songs have all been flopping for a very long time.

I think it applies because some artists legitimately don't seem to be able to pull off solo hits after they had collab hits which means the demand for them is not there.

To be honest, Christina adds nothing to MLJ so it's kinda embarrassing that her most listened songs are songs from other people.

 

Using it against Gaga, Beyoncé or Britney is pointless since they such a strong catalogue each, Christina on the other hand, not so much
