Is The Weeknd is over lowkey?

Featured Replies

Dancing in the Flames flopped so hard that it wasn't even included on the album. Also, it's clear that The Idol and the drama surrounding its production has tarnished his image.

Comparing his latest single run to Bruno Mars and other male pop stars, he's really missing the mark. It makes me sad because I really do like him.

He is not over but he has already peaked and that is fine. The debut numbers for this album will be high though. (22 tracks)

mind you this is pre album release

He literally wants "The Weeknd" project to be over after this album.

Personally, HUT blows any Bruno album out of the water.

Also Timeless is currently in the US top 10 on Spotify and some of his idol songs are still charting and showing crazy longevity. He's doing just fine

Well yes, this is his last album allegedly

I feel like he excluded Dancing In The Flames because of the LA fires :dies:

He's literally the 3rd most streamed person in Spotify, how's he over? :rip:

This man has 117 MILLION Spotify listeners...you tell me.

Not that much, apparently. People clowned it but it spawned 2 global smashes with 1B+ plays each. He's definitely not getting another show, but if it had affected him musically, the singles wouldn't have smashed like that

DITF did flop but then Timeless is a hit with 500M streams already, so... People are just over the synth pop stuff

His song from the show that supposedly tarnished his image was the 7th most streamed track of 2024 on Spotify (still charting as well). Timeless is also a hit and he just announced another to be record breaking stadium tour. Yall live in some crazy bubbles :fan:

Can't we at least wait for the Spotify numbers tomorrow before getting our drags in :deadbanana4:

I think the Weeknd persona and the 80s synthpop stuff is tired. Let's see how he rebrands.

Those threads never age well.

See Bad Bunny's from just a couple weeks ago.

Commercially, no.

Creatively, he's been stale for a while, imo.

Sao Paulo is better than die with a smile and APT, I'll give him that

He's at least not afraid to drop new music despite some underperformances.

to YOU. Rest of the world says something else.

Anyway. Not lowkey but he's highkey over. There's nothing interesting about him.

Since his pandemic hit in 2020, he couldnt really release a hit song. His only chart toppers belongs to his 2016/2020 albums and even those needed Ariana Grande remixes, close to at the peak of his radio payola.
