Christmas is over and no song from LANA is predicted to chart in the top 20 of the hot 100

 

Lana's 15 new tracks (essentially an entire album) are pulling in only 11.6 million streams after barely two weeks, nearly being outstreamed by the two-year-old tracks from the standard version.

What do you think went wrong? Wasn't SZA supposed to be a streaming powerhouse? Was it the release date? The decision to market this project as a deluxe? Or did the music simply fail to resonate with the general public? Discuss

 

 

I don't think it's necessarily flopping, SZA's songs just take time to catch on. "Kill Bill" was the only one, if I'm not mistaken, to blow up right away. But anyway, "LANA" is a great deluxe/continuation/whatever SZA wants to call it.

 

Aside from the fact that "LANA" is a thousand times better than "The Tortured Eardrum: Anthology", it's simply a decent album to listen to.

Her splashy debuts on Hot 100 were blocked by the Christmas freeze. Now I expect LANA songs to fluctuate on the charts as they resonate with different listeners and/or catch up on radio. SZA is not one to write off this early given her strength in the longevity department

why does good grammar and coherent thoughts sound like AI when posted on ATRL? 

Isn't this normal for albums with the name Lana on them though  ?

She is not exactly for song smashing right out of gate, some of them will start climbing once they get better playlisting and ****.

both of which will likely be performed at her upcoming stadium tour  oh Solana Imani Rowe the legend you are

None of the songs give conventional hit, that's why they're not a "new" album.

 

Luther is a hit so she's fine.

I don't think it's "tanking", it wasn't released as a new/separate album, and it took SOS back to the top spot.  SOS has already had incredible longevity so I don't see how LANA won't enhance that.  

30 for 30 is a hit in the making. I have a feeling that song and Luther will be on the Super Bowl set list.

What does anything have to do with that album? Talking about it 24/7 isn't going to make it go away

I didn't know she released that many tracks, I thought it was the standard 3-5 deluxe tracks

That said, it doesn't have a major hit/major hits like the parent album so it's expected that it won't pull in big numbers like it did. It's already done well for a deluxe album, give it some time before you label it as tanking.

Deluxes never do as well and the release timing was horrible.

Bad timing, unnecessary re-issue, etc. It'll even out, especially around the tour.

11M is debut numbers for some girls 

 

The album already reached #1. It's a special edition, made for the fans, the arts, and not the charts, and yet it already served charts 

The album is one of the best releases this year and I wouldn't be surprised if LANA solidifies SOS as the most streamed female album of the decade.
