  • I'm going to eat the spaghetti today while reading all the meltdowns. I'm still not going to stream Spaghetti though but I will choose to stream this instead     After all the

  • aespa didn't chart but guess what, we're STILL not streaming Stray Kids

We will have to wait to see thier personalities shown when they start actually promoting and doing stuff with thier next comeback. So it's too early for me to pick a bias. But I'm guessing Carmen is gonna be the fan favorite.

This was on repeat all day. They didn't get enough credit for the raw talent displayed with their first single

Now I love my good sis Joy she is my RV bias but she's the reason we got that lame ass remake album as her solo debut. I'm not confident her solo cb will be any better.

From what we have gathered so far about H2H

Carmen = Taeyeon: Main Vocalist

Yuha = Jessica: Lead Vocalist / Dancer / 2nd Visual

Stella = Tiffany: 3rd Vocalist / English speaker

Yeon = Seohyun: 4th Vocalist / Maknae

Ian = Yoona: Visual / Center

Juun = Hyoyeon: Main Dancer

Jiwoo = Yuri: Lead Dancer / 3rd Visual

Ana = Sooyoung: Sub Dancer / Vocal

So Yuha will be debuting a luxury brand in the future

Is Yuha already in scandals or something? Why are we cursing her?

Are we now arguing that polls are more reflective of reality than sales and touring, or that there could never be a better sample size than the entire general public? :rip:

The only silver lining for SNSD in this comparison is that GD is barely an idol, so they are still #1 to some.

So has GD sold more than Taeyeon? Or is it going to be "Well she's released more" when she's also had multiple national hits?

If, I, and Four Seasons were all absolutely behemouth national smashes and she's had like 10 other very big hits including Weekend, To.X, Poem Titled You, 11:11, Fine, etc.

This tunnel vision BigBang fans have that he's the only 2nd gen idol that gets hits is so deranged and absurd that it's crazy :deadbanana2:

Taeyeon has also had MULTIPLE sold out solo tours as a FEMALE idol which is indicative of her status since females struggle in the fanbase department compared to males. And its especially true considering 2nd gen females did not really get to experience the full benefits of the Kpop wave peaking with BP/BTS.

Also, To.X was literally a Top 10 year end hit... last year...less than 3 months ago :deadbanana4:

So no. We're not arguing that polls are more reflective, we're simply stating digital charts are not the ONLY metric in determining someone's status. SNSD members have had very successful music careers AND successful variety show careers, movie and drama careers, hosting careers, etc.

i love this so much

I shouldn't have been able to predict this but is anyone shocked? YG is so shameless it's actually hilarious; BP concert being 80% solo stages here we come

As someone that doesn't know how people get leaks in the music industry, I find it very interesting that very rarely kpop albums leak and now that blackpink left their kpop company and are releasing their albums it leaks. I'm curious why does it happen? Are kpop companies just stricter about who gets access to the music or something else?

I still remember the iconic RZAL exclusive leaks lord:ahh:

The funny part is that Troye Sivan actually had a little crush on Hyunjin when he met him at a Versace event

Hyunjin was even featured on the Rush remix

Whatever, I'd watch it. And I'm betting most of us would. We're only human.

I mean I like some of their songs but I don't consider myself a stan of them.

I'm not aware of their scandals. Did some research and saw Bomi did blackface. I didn't find anything about Girl's Day so what did they do.

GD + BB has unequivocally outsold Taeyeon + SNSD. Their lead in streaming and digitals is so so gigantic that if you look at track equivalent albums he's outsold in albums too despite famously not having the kind of fans that buy albums. He has dozens of million seller B-sides. It's not even comparable.

Tunnel vision? I'm literally a Sone too. The domestic pecking order is GD>IU>>>>>SNSD. Globally it's GD>SNSD>>>>>>>>>IU

The newer users didn't even know I was a GD stan until a couple months ago and thought I was a stuck in the past single group stan Sone hiding behind aespa.

Female idols literally tour more than males. :rip: GD does arenas in countries that SM won't let Taeyeon even touch and stadiums in countries where Taeyeon does arenas.

And every single GD released for the past decade ended up towards the top of the year end chart. Taeyeon is huge but there's a reason GD and IU are the only idols from any generation who can release straight to #1 on realtime charts. :rip:

and GD just got 6% primetime ratings for his show, 19 years after debut. :zsgaymuscat: literal peak soshi variety numbers

I can point to plenty of underperformances and career missteps from my other favs SNSD. GD literally has not missed since the 00s. They fill different roles in the industry so like I've said, I still consider SNSD the #1 idol group. GD is a much bigger celebrity and recording artist though. It doesn't diminish SNSD's impact or status to acknowledge that.

Edited by Ubermensch

This type of nonsense is why other fandoms don't take us(Sone) seriously. The GD chart annihilation is self-evident and has been literally every time he releases. Not even BTS has such an easy time climbing to the top of year end charts annually and domestic charts have literally reformed to inflate specifically their popularity more than once. :rip:

Some of you can make excellent points about SNSDs undeniable impact and staying power but then you ruin it by saying some crazy **** like they're bigger than GD who literally nobody can outperform domestically.

I dont think anyone can deny and question Gdragon's dominance in korea even if BLACKPINK, BTS, SNSD, IU and newjeans collabed he would still be topping the kr charts effortlessly

the only question here is: why? and what's with korea's obsession with him :rip:

Just realised Taeyeon is the first Korean idol or something to sold out the big Taiwan stadium oh wow :clap3:

we love female idol who CAN SI NG :clap3:

the only question here is: why? and what's with korea's obsession with him :rip:

Even though he invented and epitomizes the mainstream, he's a deeply counter-culture figure. His rainbow colored image and do whatever you like messaging is a slap to the face of Korean culture and a wake up call for the GP when they hear it. It's not a coincidence that China is his 2nd best performing market either, literally every other idol or group that can claim that has Chinese roots.

Every edgy pop artist loves to sing about being yourself and give flashy visuals but GD actually lives it. He's a heterosexual crossdresser who is as likely to launch into political dissent in the middle of a verse as he is to make tongue in cheek references to his drug use or sex life. This is dominating charts in a country where wearing colors in public will attract ugly stares. He doesn't just dismantle taboos for attention, hes a living question for the culture, almost like Madonna.

Also he has one of the best pens for hooks and melodies of all time ww, definitely top 5 for that among singer-songwriters.

Any idol can do bright colored hair and genre bending dance music. But when they do that, they're not expressing their own point of view, they're imitating GD, which makes the whole individualistic perspective ring hollow. What GD does speaks to people.

Literally almost every all-time best selling artist in the west is similar in how they were extremely antagonistic toward social norms. There were a million Madonnas and MJs and Beatles and Elton's and Aretha's that came after them, but they held onto their status/are still holding on because after they broke those rules and paved the way, it's less impressive when the next artist does it.
