Don't Leave Me On The Dancefloor remains the best out of the era so far as it's more "classic" Carly and has a glorious chorus. This is different from what she's done before, but it's still enjoyable and danceable. Very UK radio circa 2014.

Perhaps K-Pop groups (labels) should remember they have a K in their genre and start making music as K-Popping as PINKY UP. KiiKii is the only other group that released a genuinely cool track this year with Pop Off Pop Off, the rest have been so incredibly bland. I've been into K-Pop since 2009 and the past 5 years have been so painful to experience due to how toned down and generalist most of K-Pop became. PINKY UP has been able to properly take Eurodance from Vengaboys, mix it with PC Music and turn it into a contemporary anthem. Does it have the deepest lyrics? No, yet it sounds timeless and unique. A true masterpiece.

In a way… This is the closest they've ever been to what The Pussycat Dolls once were, just more fresh and contemporary. The days (some of) the girls performed Buttons on Dream Academy, finally make sense. Also, Daniela is such a star.

Why would anyone want ballads or "deep" songs from 5 hot girls who are perfect dancers too? There are so many of artists for that kind of music, and most of them are not all rounders like these girls. KATSEYE's members are show girls, they truly shine when a song allows them to put on a 360 show. PINKY UP, Hootie Frutti and Gnarly really allow them to showcase their talent as performers and I hope they'll keep making that kind of party music. Personal taste aside, and since it just came out, Hootie Frutti completely obliterates Animal as the latter is really an interchangeable beige track that could have been sung by many, many artists. Hootie Frutti provides something different, it properly takes inspiration from latin music (particularly from Brazil) and evolves it while including a sprinkle of K-Pop and electronic music. Same thing applies to PINKY UP, it took eurodance and updated it with contemporary K-Pop elements.

Being really objective, I can't see her coming back at this point. It would be quite weird as the 5 of them are fully committed to the group, 101%. I don't want to sound negative or anything like that, but her presence within the actual program -not just the group later on- was questionable due to commitment issues. And, as other users mentioned, it's not even completely fair to expect such commitment as she was a blank page (artist-wise) when she got scouted. The current formation is so into the group and willing to live on a crazy schedule because they really wanted to be artists since they were kids. Frictions are inevitable when goals and dreams do not go towards the same direction.

So I just came back from the cinema and it was a very cute experience! The audience average age was between 10 and 14-ish, which was incredibly lovely to watch as KATSEYE is basically the "first" group they truly experience and love. It reminded me of when I was super crazy about High School Musical in a way. Some things I took home with me: - Daniela's favorite track out of the EP is PINKY UP - They all value dedication more than everything as it takes a lot of effort to live the popstar life. This, while not explicitly said, kinda leads to the next point - Manon has very little space (expected) during the documentary - Their identity during SIS was still a blank page and they tried different styles to see what worked the best for them - Before a TV interview they thought they were not on air yet, while they were, and used explicit language, etc. They initially thought they got in trouble, yet the public responded well to them being authentic. Gnarly is the result of this. - All of them liked Gnarly from the beginning, minus Daniela. She eventually switched later with the choreography. - Lara pitched multiple songs for the group since the SIS era, Unloveu is the first that got approved. More tracks will supposedly be made by her in the future.

They didn't even try. Gnarly would have been really hard to digest for the GP, but PINKY UP had a lot of potential in Europe and could have been marketed as a contemporary take on Vengaboys' craft. So far, PINKY UP remains the best out of their discography for me, so much personality and so incredibly catchy. I can see HOTTIE FRUTTI snatching the 2nd place.

I'm not sure if she / her team wants to go fully mainstream... but if that's the case then all those explicit words should be toned down. I believe I saw a grid of all the tracks (to check their status) on her IG where clean versions were mentioned.

I've been a supporter since BOOMBAYAH, I vividly remember listening to the track premiere while in GAP's elevator in Harajuku and I'm glad about some of the core memories related to BLACKPINK. In fact, they're fully part of my 20s and uni life. This being said, the group's trajectory has been puzzling since the very beginning. I'm sure there's a lot "not being told" behind the scenes, but I can't stop feeling disappointed as a longtime fan. At this point I don't even care if was because of YG or because of the girls themselves, the group as a whole wasted its chance to go to the next level and globally shine. 10 years, very few songs and… this? Oh 2NE1, I'm even more sorry for you now. You really deserved better.
