Peak Now Posted October 1 Posted October 1 The way most of us are mentioning Britney and Janet, and the same man was on the scene of both hate trains... 1 1
PoisonedIvy Posted October 1 Posted October 1 2 hours ago, Onyxmage said: Taylor? Yea it was pretty bad. As Taylor herself mentioned, do you know exactly how many people have to be tweeting that they hate you for it to become the #1 trend on twitter? A lot more than most other artists get, that's for sure. But thankfully she was able to bounce back, much like Madonna. Two of the most inspiring women in pop music, always capable of turning criticisms against them into fuel that furthers their legacy. As for the threads question, I'd agree it doesn't get much worse than Britney, unfortunately.

bjorn Posted October 1 Posted October 1 Britney in 2007 i mean it's not even close. The pure bullying and hatred from the media. I'm surprised she even made it out alive from that period.
Witnessed ET Posted October 1 Posted October 1 A lot of them have faced hate trains but I think Britney is the only one, at least on a bigger scale, whose entire life was altered due to things caused by the hate train, and she hasn't fully recovered. I don't know if she ever will. Everybody else with a hate train at some points in their life have managed to find some kind of balance in their lives and refocus their energy and priorities.

P.O.P Posted October 1 Posted October 1 Depends. Britney and Janet had it hard, mostly because of the GP. In stan world tho, the answer is Christiana during Bionic.
Blackout2006 Posted October 1 Posted October 1 (edited) Britney Spears, for sure. Many MPGs had periods of intense hate trains but they were ephemeral. For Britney, hating on her was in vogue as early as she debuted, but it was something celebrities, radio jockeys, regular people, critics, and shows did between 2004 and 2007. That's three years, definitely the longest for any MPG. Edited October 1 by Blackout2006
Ryusei Posted October 1 Posted October 1 (edited) 1 hour ago, thirdward said: the girl sold 1M first week but noooo hate train Britney still did well with Blackout despite the whole world piling onto her and basically no promo especially for the time when a lot of tv promo was common thats not an indicator of being hated on. + Taylor's fandom knew it's all bs and still bought but you couldnt mention her name online without getting immediate blowback and it's still kinda the same. OTHRL ofc doesnt understand that the internet nearly drove her to suicide but nooo it was all smooth sailing for taylor no dogpile at all what a joke. Edited October 1 by Ryusei

The Katy "hate train" is child's play. OT: Britney, Janet, Dixie Chicks
Slap Posted October 1 Posted October 1 Britney, special mention for Janet but hers was localized to one incident rather than an entire lifetime of genuinely abusive media coverage. Glad to see most people in this thread get it.

The way y'all stay trying to shoehorn Katy into this. Her "hate train" is child's play. Getting laughed at for flopping and releasing parody-esque music isn't even close to being in the same realm as the abuse people like Britney, Janet, The Dixie Chicks etc got
Digitalism Posted October 1 Posted October 1 I knew it was a matter of time before some people started answering: "my fav"
