She was over her music career at this point and wanted to spend her time with her then-husband

-was just giving material to her label so that they would leave her alone

 

this was her longest break career-wise (until now) so it's no wonder..

+after she started working again, she had newer bigger songs to perform so it never got to the point that she needed to do this one live (unfortunately)

It was on the setlist for Domination so she WAS going to finally perform it but it wasn't meant to be.

This is one of my fav Britney songs of all time, she was so cunty and fierce, so so so good! And so relevant to this day still, it's crazy how timeless her catalogue is 

This is what I feel like Taylor watched as a kid and wanted to become. It's what the Reputation artwork and era is giving. But Britney's media attention was organic and natural because she was who she was and not because she strived to become that huge. 

 

Also worth noting, this version of the song is now older than the original when it came out.

Some fans seem really invested in making everyone believe she was trolling when she did that and I really can't stand it.

It did better than charting on the Hot 100. 210k physical singles, 890k digital singles and 6.145M albums sold. The song would have charted well on the Hot 100 seeing as it hit #3 on Digital Song Sales on 11/27/04, but the Hot 100 didn't include digital downloads until February 12th, 2005.

 

The video is incredible and the song is easily one of the best covers by a pop girl. Britney truly made it her own.

I felt like that breakdown part was giving early dupstep vibes.

 

Yes, MP digital sales were counted by the time sales slowed down for the song in February. 

 

I remember I've just begun doing well in the early digital sales chart.

It failed to chart on the Hot 100 peaking at #1 on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 but reached top 10 in 20+ countries and reached #1 in Ireland, Italy and Norway and peaked at #2 on the European Hot 100

It amazes me that back in the day one of her singles would not chart on hot 100, like how?! She was huge
