Suilen
10 hours ago, Zaram said: The albums are not ranked when they have the same amount of points. I think everything below 50 points is not really to be taken serious, because a new vote could make the album suddenly rise 30 places. 155 | 44 - Grimes - Visions - 159 | 43 - M.I.A. - MAYA - 163 | 41 - Grimes - Art Angels - 164 | 41 - M.I.A. - Kala - Yeah, in hindsight, MAYA is probably more to ATRL's taste, should've voted for it. The way Grimes fell off, Visions is an important album to me and would ideally be in my top 10, but this is what happens when an artist keeps acting like a fool. pavi
Just read through all the pages and this has been so much fun Can't believe Red ended up higher than 1989 It's funny how the list only really became reasonable in the top 50 or even top 25 Will post my ballot later (cause I forgot to save it) I feel like that if we ever were to do this again, maybe we should revise the point system? The first 50 or so of this list were so weird at times and I feel like it's because of the amount of points albums got based on their positions on the ballots. Just one member ranking an album at #1 gave it 25 points, which means if 20 members all put another album at #20, the album that was chosen ONCE would be higher than an album making TWENTY lists. I feel like an album even making so many lists should weigh heavier than just one or two random people putting an album up so high. Maybe #1 should get 200 (or 250) points, #2 195 points, #3 190 points, and so on, meaning #20 would get 100 points. This would give more weight to an album being on a ballot rather than being really high on a ballot. Really wonder how much different the results would've been and which way would be a 'truer' represantation of our taste Anyway, @Zaram, thanka for hosting!! And let's all appreciate the work that was put into the visuals of each reveal... quite a lot of work

Lana Del Rey (in hindsight, I should've included other Lana albums but at the time it seemed everyone would be payola'ing this one so I forgot about BTD, its top 10 place was deserved af tho) how i'm feeling now Charli XCX (I've only heard this + Sucker + Brat from her in full i think? I haven't gotten to the rest yet) That's the Spirit Bring Me The Horizon (I actually haven't heard this in full either I think but I love the singles so) Cry Baby (Deluxe Edition) Melanie Martinez (#64) Electra Heart (Deluxe) MARINA Dystopia : The Tree of Language Dreamcatcher MAYA M.I.A. Don't think anyone has ever managed to combine centuries of culture with contemporary sounds and ideas making it all sound fresh with next level production all while still respecting the original sound and making it appealing to audiences of all ages and singing in the original language that is not English. This truly is the best album of all time and it will be studied for centuries to come...

Wicked
My main grievance with this list is that... Y'all need to listen to some Pop albums before the year 2000. The fact that damn near some artists whole discogs is on the list is crazy to me.

Laura Nyro - Eli and the 13th confession (#182) 2. Kendrick Lamar - Mr Morale and the big steppers* 3. Taylor swift - 1989 (#25) 4. Sly And The Family Stone - there's a riot going on 5. Lana Del Rey - Norman ******* Rockwell (#3) 6. Fleetwood Mac - Rumours (#31) 7. Abba - Voulez vous 8. Wu Tang Clan - Enter the Wu Tang 9. Ariana Grande - Dangerous Woman (#79) 10. Kate Bush - the Dreaming (#78) 11. Doja Cat - Scarlet 12. Magdalena Bay - Mercurial World 13. Weyes Blood - Titanic Rising (#122) 14. Halsey - Manic (#157) 15. LCD Soundsystem - This is Happening 16. Pet Shop Boys - Introspective 17. Charli XCX - Charli* 18. Elton John - Madman Across The Water 19. The Killers - Hot Fuss 20. Madonna - Like A Virgin* a lot of people have slagged off the back half of the list and while i am not going to claim that all of these are the "best" records or all time, i think there are some interesting things in there. one of the good things about doing a rate is that it frees you from what people are supposed to like and you find out (to some degree) what they really enjoy listening to. while on one level that means that we've found that a few people think that "rare" is one of the best records ever made and quite a lot of people think that "ARTPOP" is, there's also room to look at something like "broke with expensive taste", which is a great album that's fallen out of fashion because *gestures generally twds azealia banks*. stuff like "the dreaming" and "erotica" (which i know was higher but that's interesting in itself) are unfashionable albums by big artists that are clearly being listened to now by an audience who don't care that they were slagged off 30 years ago or whenever it was. some things feel very high to me (find someone who looks at you like this forum looks at folklore and evermore ffs) but i think that the forum effects are a good thing in general, it's nice to see artists like marina and tinashe exactly because they wouldn't fly outside pop forums. and tbh i've listened to "revivial" this week and it should have been higher: full of bangers, iconic sleeve
Comedor
Thanks to everyone who participated, especially to the host for working on this. I will give these albums a try. Is ROL really that good? Guess I'm about to find out. Also so happy for Renaissance getting its flowers. It's indeed Beyonce's best album and one of the best of all time. For a site that loves Lana, I'm surprised trad pop makes zero noise on here. Julie London has one of the earliest "classic pop albums". It's been in the grammy hall of fame for over 20 years. It smashed on the charts (for its time), etc,. Judy Garland just got the pitchfork 10 (very rare for a woman at that) for a classic live Pop album and there wasn't even a thread on here from what I've seen. The 80s is at least cherished in a somewhat "greatest hits" fashion, the 90s less so. City Pop similarly doesn't make much noise on here. Tapestry feels like a fluke Before the 2000s only the top 0.5% of women in pop are actually considered and going back before the 80s is a stretch.
