By decade do you mean 2014-2024 or do you mean 2020s? :rip:

When people say ‘this decade’ they’re not meaning of the last ten years. :toofunny3:

Then why are so many people quoting songs released in the 2010s? :toofunny2:

Y’all will say As It Was but while it was big at the time, it’s not really referenced anymore.

It was #2 on the year end charts in the US in 2022 and #15 in 2023. I think it's got pretty good staying power.

Damage a classic? Honey be so real…

Cold case classics are:

Flowers

As It Was

Blinding Lights

Levitating

Drivers License

Save Your Tears

Kill Bill

Cruel Summer. It technically came out last decade but it became a single and blew up this decade :jonnycat:

Levitating

Blinding Lights

As It Was

Good 4 u

drivers license

Save Your Tears

Flowers

Stay

Flowers

Levitating

As It Was

Blinding Lights

Calm Down

Stay

Good 4 U

Save Your Tears

Kill Bill

I'm Good (Blue)

Happier Than Ever, As It Was and Flowers definitely.

Cruel Summer and Blinding Lights also, although they are techically from the last decade.

There are other already released songs that are candidates to become classics for sure.

We will see in 10 years, just because something is a huge smash doesn't mean it will stand the test of time, there are millions of examples

Not to mention it was a take on me and blinding lights rip off. It’s not a classic it’s just one of the many songs influenced by blinding lights the real classic

R&B classic ≠ Pop Classic

The song's recurrent stats on YouTube are kinda amazing, it's still been doing 1M weekly in the US there. And it's still doing ok on Apple Music.

RIAA Units - 3.4M* Units

US Nielsen Units - 3.1M Units

:cm:

Katy's last Top 5 hit still ain't cracked 3M in the US after 7 years, so I think the #44 peaking song is doing very well:suburban:

I don't believe in a song being theoretically "classic" after only a few years, no matter how successful it is on the charts. Let it live through different eras first.
