Question about Lana huge stream stats

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

I was surprised when I learned Lana is one of the top female streamers on Spotify. To be honest it doesn’t feel like she’s that big.

While discussing with a friend he told me she has big stream numbers because people listen to her to fall asleep. So it’s around 8 hours of streaming every day but no listening.

Is that true? Has it been discussed before? Is there a site that tracks what time an artist is streamed the most?

The way this site talks about Lana Del Rey is so cursed.   She is not big because of TikTok or Tumblr.   Y'all forget that this woman has been building her legacy since Born To Die

She’s an insomnia queen - she helps people fall asleep.
She is an artistic muse - she helps people discover their visions.

She is a poet - she helps people understand the beauty of word painted pictures.
She’s a walking breathing art  - she inspires people to create for the love of their crafts rather than for fame and money.

she is a rare breed -  she is a modern day Mutha Teresa!

A stream is a stream and Lana has been getting them and reached her career's peak in 2023 :clap3:

Ik this is a jk thread (at least I assume) but back in 2012 I used to listen to Born to Die all the time and everytime I fell into DEEP sleep like for real and I haven't experienced anything like this with any other album ever, not even folklore.

I never thought about it that way. Now all her streams make so much more sense to me!

I prefer quiet to sleep, but for those who need that little extra kick to knock them out, I suppose her snoozefest of a discography would do the trick. :giraffe:

she has music for other occasions too though - like when you want to feel like a drug addicted crack head, a cheap hooker, An American *****, a side piece,  a toxic relationship magnet, cop fucker, a waitress, a woman of color….etc etc

it may seems very negative but these are the experiences you won’t ever cross path with if you have a healthy lifestyle and mindset :giraffe: therefore, listening to Lana automatically makes you a more empathetic person!

No. She's BIG af on TikTok, and she has the post-Tumblr aura that people like now. Plus, she's "close" to Taylor and that benefited her a lil.

She is a singer songwriter with a large discography.  Singer songwriters tend to be good with streaming see: Billie, Olivia, and Taylor.

Yeah it’s true. Honeymoon works better than literally any drugs or alcohol for putting you to sleep

no tiktok its just the new tumblr, but the artists bennefit this time

That might be a great theory....but the way last year she had several concerts with +40k people singing her songs every night beg to differ :fan:

Well this may come as a shock to you, your random friend’s opinion does not equate to actual fact. Maybe some people listen to Lana to fall asleep? That takes a special kind of enigmatic and ethereal music to do that.

But Lana is huge. She has a new song, released or unreleased, going viral on TikTok literally every other week. She’s huge with Gen Z despite being almost 40 years old. Her music is timeless and once spring and summer roll around, it’s Lana season again. Windows down, wind in our hair, and Lana on repeat.

There’s a reason the biggest artist on planet earth, Taylor Swift, sings Lana’s praises and had her featured on her recent album and then rereleased the song again with additional vocals from Lana. Lana IS in fact that big.

The way this site talks about Lana Del Rey is so cursed.

She is not big because of TikTok or Tumblr.

Y'all forget that this woman has been building her legacy since Born To Die. Not only was her major label debut album a phenomenon, it went on to become a modern day classic. Since then, she has only continued to release bodies of work that have built the status and popularity she has today. Ultraviolence, Honeymoon, even Lust For Life, and definitely Norman ******* Rockwell have all solidified her legacy and legitimized her talent. It's because these are not commercial or trendy albums, and Lana did not go out of her way to promote these records, and people were still weary about her for some time after Born To Die, even with the amazing music she was putting out.

All of the love Lana has received in 2023 is an accumulation of all of this work she has done since her debut album. People are quite literally merely just catching on to how great and talented Lana and her music is. That's on them.

The beauty of TikTok in this current moment is its influence on people. Yes, people are spreading her unreleased work and such on there, but her unreleased work has been popular on the internet for a decade now.....some of her leaked songs have millions of YouTube views, without Lana ever acknowledging them.

AT WHAT POINT do you bottoms stop with the "TUMBLR AND TIKTOK!" narrative. Tumblr PEAKED with Lana, meanwhile other "Tumblr girls" have flopped careers. And all TikTok is doing is putting people on to her greatness, but just know, people on the internet at least know and appreciate Lana, SEE THE STREAMS!

Not every artist can slay the culture organically like her. It's impressive. Y'all stay mad and ignorant.

Her numbers last year were huge, not just in streaming, but in total vinyl sales and sold out shows. Even printed magazines that contain her interviews are going for hundreds of dollars on eBay now.

With that being said, Honeymoon is actually an excellent album to fall asleep to. It's very soothing and soft. :alexz3:

Spill :clap3: The world has finally caught up to her artistry and the gp is showing up in a huge way now, without her needing to do any hardcore promo.

She's one of one, number one, the only one :gayoncecat1: (She deserves her own ATRL gaycat tbh)

Same tbh. I love the album but I alway associated that album with day time sleeping tbh. Like I can remember it clearly that I used to half-sleep and half-listen to the album back in the days. The album made me feel less motivated to stand up and go outside to touch grass.

Oh wow :clap3:

She was huge since Born to Die. EVERYONE was listening to that album in university. She was instantly iconic. It took until streaming era for the stats to fully reflect it because people were illegally downloading back in the day dddd

I don't really use her discography except for Born To Die and Lust for Life, but I get why she has big streams, most of her albums are a huge blessing for insomniacs.

Her album Honeymoon literally puts me to sleep after listening a few tracks. Not my cup of tea, but it works when I desperately need to sleep. :ducky:

Even if her fans deny it, she is one of those artists who benefited from TikTok and had a revival thanks to the platform. Her most streamed daily songs are literally the viral sounds of Tiktok. :penguin:

And it's not bad, since the music is good its amazing + her playlist reach on the platform is not bad, almost 800M, similar to mainstream artists like Harry Styles.

Lanita is queen and deserves all the success!

Never fails when u need a quick lil' nap. :ducky:

She blew up on tiktok at some point in the past couple years, that’s literally all it is + a great and enduring discography
