If Zayn is (which I agree), then Camila is too. Counting Bad Things for her, they have the same amount of top 5s, and at least one of Zayn’s is solo

I mean it wasn't an exhaustive list of exceptions, just some examples, hence why I said "like"

Raven Symone. She released a successful album with the Cheetah girls in 2003 and left to release her own in 2004 . She was considered the biggest star in the group but flopped solo. But at least we got this iconic moment from it :

Omg because every word in the title was capped, I thought this was the name of a new reality show or something and was like 

 

Anyway, as others have said, this is a pretty common occurrence. It's more uncommon that someone successfully launches a solo career out of a band/group.
