Beyonce defiantly has an iconic discography, and she's often compared to legends like Michael Jackson, Madonna, Whitney Houston, Prince, Mariah Carey, etc. But how does her discography stack up against theirs?

 

Do you think Beyonce's music will stand the test of time and be perceived as influential as the aforementioned acts?

I’m not sure I would compare Beyoncé’s discography to that of MJ, Madonna, Whitney, Prince or Mariah, but it is certainly a legendary discography and has some timeless classics. 

Post self-titled? Yes.

Well, it’s difficult to say because unlike most on that list Beyoncé’s strongest work didn’t come early on and she’s yet to decline quality wise. I’d say her discography is already better than Whitney’s tho. I love her as an artist and singer but she just doesn’t have the most solid material out these legends.

Maybe two people in that list have timeless discographies so I'm gonna say yes based on that  But if anything this thread is already giving her haters bringing up streaming stats as always, like it's the end all be all

Tbh most “timeless” music hasn’t stood the test of time until the artist dies and their music lives on decades later (Elvis, frank sinatra). Most old songs we know because our parents or grandparents were fans or we were alive when the artist was still alive and very relevant (mj). So the question is will your kids and grandkids be streaming her biggest hits as adults? Probably not. Sadly her music is too vulgar, too much rap/hip hop intertwined (which is rarely timeless), and not enough power love ballad/heart break songs. Single Ladies will die off in 10 years or so once the generation that grew up replicating the video dies off/stops caring about that meme. Love on top will remain when the dust settles and it’s her time to leave earth but I don’t expect it to last much longer after she’s no longer here. 

absolutely, no matter whatever narrative ATRL tries to push or a certain fanbase always bringing up daily streams, songs like Crazy In Love, Halo, and Single Ladies will always be played. and hits like If I Were A Boy, Irreplaceable, and others defined an era and made her the top female hitmakers of the 2000s for a reason. even songs like RTW and LOT that weren't hits on initial run have proven to have an everlasting success without having to be featured in a tv show or commercial

 

that's all without mentioning how amazing of albums ST and Lemonade were and the way ST shifted the music industry.

 

you don't get to 20+ years in your career with a new album gaining platinum certifications all around the world and having one of the biggest tours of all time without making timeless music 

Aside from IASF and some DIL cuts, yes 

Scratch that run the world will always be an anthem until women receive equal treatment and then it’ll be retired. Single ladies will probably still be played at weddings 100 years from now. Halo will eventually be replaced as a memorial song but for now it’ll still work

No, most of what I've heard (everything pre-self titled) - is very of it's time, but she has a handful of classics that even though they sound dated, are still an enjoyable listen. Timeless, no however.

I think she has her fair share if dated tracks (much like the others listed do as well), but classics like Crazy in Love, Love on Top, and more recently Cuff It all have that timeless element to them. Self Titled as a whole feels timeless a part from a few songs (like Flawless, which didn’t age well imo)

Yes, without a doubt. 

It can only be truly evaluated from her oldest album because enough time has passed : 

CIL, DIL and Me Myself & I are timeless RnB songs that are 20 years old and stood the test of that time. 

The whole album also aged quite well too. 

 

And for the rest, it is still too early to tell but 4 in particular aged like fine wine. Even album tracks like 1+1, End Of Time, Dance 4 U are still referenced to this say and did quite well. And that's not even talking about Love On Top who is shaping up to be a real classic despite being cobsidered a flop back then.

Her hit songs are trash honestly compared that of the actual legends. Single Ladies production is rightly hated on here, but all of IASF production sounds awful too of course including Halo.

People **** on B'Day a lot but to be honest, I am sure as a body of work, the standard edition is her best work out of her first 3 albums and will stand the time. So many RnB singers have been influenced by it : Azealia and Lizzo being the mist obvious ones.

 

Yes and it kills ATRL  they didn’t learn their lesson during 4. She might not have the best streams at this present moment in time but when her music lives on we will see

Her legacy and classics are already standing the test of time:

Crazy in Love, Halo, LOT, RTW and SL are all doing fine, solid numbers when u factor in when they were initially released. They are also very well known among the GP.

Add the signature songs of DC to it, and her repertoire of classics looks really good.
