Etta James appreciated Christina Aguilera's powerhouse voice and ability to sing true blues and soul, whereas she publicly criticized other contemporary artists, like Beyonce, for covering her signature tracks. Why?! Examples: Etta James on Beyonce: ""I can't stand Beyoncé... I tell you, that woman he had singing for him, singing my song, she gonna get her ass whopped."" Meanwhile, Etta James on the legendary Christina "The Voice" Aguilera: "She reminds me of myself when I was young. I've always been a complainer, too, that's what I liked about her. The bad-girl syndrome was a controversy then, but that was always the hip thing. Everybody wanted to be the bad girl!" Beyonce ever played her in the film Cadillac. Whereas Xtina covered her song "Something's Got a Hold of Me" in the cult-favorite Burlesque. Thoughts?
