I've seen more of non-swifties demonize Taylor's large female fanbase as if it's a bad thing or a problem.

the girls have seen her breakdown multiple times since ntmt dropped and still have the nerve to say such disgusting things about her over an album they swear they don't care about getting anymore

Also using Taylor Swift stats/peak to discredit other (if not more) talented artists in the industry.

That musicians doing their job and releasing new music frequently is a bad thing.

I legit don't understand the H&M/hopping mall -drag. It's not uncommon on ATRL to see fans of Dua Lipa go "this trash H&M/shopping mall -music" and what do I hear when I go to the nearest local mall... well Dua Lipa for example!

I think the constant infantilization of Taylor Swift fans as literal children and the insinuation that they're all young white girls has to rank up there somewhere, since actual research polls show that the demographic breakdown of her listeners is almost as diverse as the general population, those same sources show she's more popular with 18+ demographics, and she has a massive commercial and social presence in Asia. Seeing page after page of people call all Swifties teenage white girls is just so bizarre, made all the more so by POC Swifties protesting this characterization on those very same pages. I can't even tell you how many times I've seen this in threads lately, especially those about Taylor and Madonna for whatever reason. And that's not even the weirdest thing people try to do to generalize us, but I guess it's more common than some of the more nasty accusations.

The idea of "songs are poems put to music" has fried people's brains. The entire point of songwriting isnt just to write something flowery and poetic, nor is putting poems to music how music as a whole actually came to form if you look at musicology.

 

If there's one thing that actually separates songwriting and just writing a poem, it's obviously musical composition. Melodies, harmonies, chord progressions, use of rhythmn, arrangement, etc. are all what make a song, a song. Songs with good lyricism but weak melodies and compositions are just as bad as bops with weak lyrics.
