stans in general just like being mean and there is almost No inbetween/grey area in standom..it's either black or white.

I don't know that people "misuse" it as much as they misunderstand it but I think people have a very narrow idea of what makes something Album of the Year. I think a lot of people assume that it's something based solely on the album's success or it's acclaim when it's not really. It's based on the whole package. How it's constructed from a production standpoint, how it's constructed from a writing standpoint, how its performed, how it delivers it's message and it's ideas, and most importantly the impression that it leaves behind on the listener. Yes, many albums that win also have received a great deal of acclaim and commercial success, but that doesn't mean that a winner who may be obscure to a wider audience isn't still deserving of the win. The Grammys are awards intended to honor all music, not just music made by the most famous artists in the business.

This is the 1. “Samples are taking over modern music” & they’re talking about a song with an interpolation that doesn’t even sample the source material. Autotune, pitch correction & vocoder are also all used kinda interchangeably to a lesser extent. Like just say vocal FX if you really aren’t sure?

this one is actually really annoying considering growing up connected is the norm in the entertainment industry rather than the exception. most people's favs on this site qualify as "industry plants"

Absolutely. Any type of vocal production is "autotune"

Not only that, but "industry plant" was originally supposed to refer to artists who portray themselves as independent but are secretly backed by a major label. But, over the years, it has come to mean "artist who is promoted by their label", like that isn't literally a label's job.

the term “industry plant” literally has no meaning anymore.

 

it used to describe an artist who poses as indie/self-made while secretly being backed by a label. now every new artist that gets a big budget and promo from their label is apparently an industry plant.

I thought this was about grammar. The way y’all misuse “literally” is literally a case for the FBI. 

"Industry plant" is so overused that it's seemingly come to mean anyone who is signed to a record label with a marketing team

 

Also "iconic" has been very diluted

Someone mentioned it up above but the term "flop" is way overused. A song is not a flop if it "only" reaches #2 on the charts like some people claim.

Edit: On ATRL tho, I think people have a very basic and misconstrued idea of what the credits mean, and use the concept very liberally to drag or praise certain artists

This is my #1 peeve on this site. I feel like the general idea people have is the songwriter makes the lyrics and the producer makes the sound, which leads to a lot of misplaced arguing
