Lana doesn't make faceless dance-pop though.  Not comparable. Stay on topic babe.   Dua is kind of dry and keeps serving the same song over and over again. Why?

What’s with the Dua hate train lately   Sis is pretty much the only pop girl who serves an era nowadays and her visuals are cute and her songs are bops   You guys call her boring

This is why I say she's this generations Katy Perry

Dua should be honored to be this generation Katy Perry. This is not the diss you think it is. This weird obsession with putting Katy down is weird & played out. She’s one of the biggest Gay supporter & has a massive career! She’s had one hell of a career!

Katy is a joke. We ain’t forgetting how she used to come for Gaga in the name of religion. She’s no big gay supporter of mine.

Gay supporter and yet she is openly voting Republican :bibliahh:

You made some points but also some lies. Katy's failure is a mix of waiting 4 years for another album, changing her image to the infamous Karen cut, losing her sex appeal, going political and openly Anti Trump, promoting her music as political and woke, having too much power in her choices such as last two Prism singles etc.

She had too much personality and allowed the public to see her meltdowns with Witness Live Stream instead of hiding it and pretending everything is fine. She thought Witness would be an important album about herself as a person and not just an image of what Katy Perry is. She thought the fans would have her back but she was wrong. She was still going all out with crazy videos for Witness, promoting her ass off everywhere with CTTR, BA and Swish Swish, having a world wide tour and hosting VMAs. Lazy is the LAST you can say about her. But she did notice that when she tried to switch things up the GP and fans were not there for her so she just went with what people wanted from her which is why we have basic Smile bops and being ok with being the "fun camp" icon.

I don't see Dua Lipa having enough power in her own career or enough personality to allow such a massive change that Katy did to herself with the image, going ultra political and speaking her mind about everything. Katy was sure she will be the popular ***** with next diamond singles so she was confident. Katy could be cocky and trusted her fanbase and her ideas too much. Dua seems too safe to ever going this direction. She's more of a Kylie Minogue person who is just always there being unproblematic.

Katy might not have the drive of Taylor but it's okay. She went through a lot in the eyes of GP and she found happiness in her private life. She already achieved the top of the world. If she feels creative to release an album she will. And Katy at her worst success wise is still more popular than 99% of world's singers and artists.

this is a great analysis on katy as a whole! but yeah i don’t think they’re comparable at all. like someone said before, katy’s personality was loud and transparent, if anything she had too much personality, lol.

if dua ever faces a commercial downfall, it won’t be for similar reasons at all.

I wouldn't say boring. But I feel like she's dead inside. I have been consuming her music for over half a decade now and I still don't know what's her personality like

This is why I say she's this generations Katy Perry. The songs are fine, they're nice, but they're generic pop songs at the end of the day, the album will age and I know you gays will move on. I feel like she's a one trick pony.

Dua wishes she had even half of Katy success and public recognition. Bebe Rexha and Ava Max are better points of comparison for her.

She's good for bops but as a persona and celebrity she's completely boring. Always sounds media-trained to death. No original or exciting thoughts. Nothing boundary-pushing. No chaotic energy.

I really liked her until I saw her live in concert. Being pretty is great, but it felt like watching paint dry a bit. Also, I haven’t been liking any of her songs from the extended FN era and Dance The Night. Depending on how the next era starts, I might be done.

omg I totally forgot I saw her live too :toofunny2: but yeah, that was when I confirmed she just doesn't have it, like, she was not a natural performer at all. It was really a great gowns beautiful gowns situation.

Kinda, her music becomes predictable and stagnant at this point. It's matter of time before people start abandoning her :gaycat7:

I can tell she has a strong personality, it just doesn't really come out in her music which I find to be pretty monotonous.

Depends on what you care more about her. I don't mind about her but I think she's a good performer (now), she has some new releases evey year and some side projects (like the beautiful Versace collection). But some of her music is nothing special, I can't say "this is dua lipa",  just as her personality.

Anyway I really don't know what atrl wants from female artists actually, many female are dragged as "messy", "problematic" and when someone is not she's "boring".

This is a lie & she blew up with New Rules which is on her first album.

New Rules is great. The album? I disagree. Maybe my comment was misleading-- New Rules gained her even more popularity-- but Future Nostalgia is when the critical acclaim starting coming. And it's no surprise. It's much superior to self-titled.

Yes and no. She is when you compare it with pop girls from the past generations, but with you compare with her peers (Camila Cabello, Bebe Rexha, Ava Max and all those) she's kinda the best.

Her music is there's nothing there for me personally. Didn't care much for FN.

I think I'm probably just a reverse listener, your music being interesting or having interesting influences is more likely to make me interested in you as an artist rather than being quirky or having 'good' interviews.

I wouldn’t say boring but I also don’t know what she can do to take her career to the next level.  She’s had the big hits, promo, performances, etc and still feels like she could disappear and no one would really notice.

I don't think boring is the name we can call her. I would probably call her as accommodated. She is serving Katy Perry type of career, but not as strong as Katy was.

She's boring compared to previous gen pop titans like Madonna, Beyonce, Britney, Xtina, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Katy Perry etc but she sticks out when you compare her to her contemporaries so there you go :michael:
