Is Dua Lipa boring?

Featured Replies

Really? With that avi? :ahh:

I always find funny when gays use the "she makes gay music" as a drag when Dua probably has the biggest straight fan base of any girl pop girl.

why? Because she’s beautiful and looks like a goddess. That's her personality, looking immaculate and perfect, not making cringe and weird comments in interviews that nobody watch and nobody cares about. :gaycat:

Lana doesn't make faceless dance-pop though.  Not comparable. Stay on topic babe.   Dua is kind of dry and keeps serving the same song over and over again. Why?

What’s with the Dua hate train lately   Sis is pretty much the only pop girl who serves an era nowadays and her visuals are cute and her songs are bops   You guys call her boring

She’s one of the only newer girls giving us certified POP DIVA nowadays, we need to protect her not drag her, keep doing what you’re doing mawmaw

For giving us 2000esque eras that the current MPGs wouldn't be able to pull off? Gurl bye

The irony in this post is not lost on me. Lana’s biggest hit is arguably a dance pop remix of her song :rip:

DL and FN are both pop albums but the similarities kind of end there. If you don’t like dance pop, that’s fine, but I don’t like cocaine lullabies either. Doesn’t mean I make threads about it, filled with baseless claims.

Straight = white girls, the same ones who think Taylor is “the music industry” :bibliahh:

Rihanna is also boring but that didn't prevent her frlm becoming a superstar.

Not a good comparison. Rihanna had natural charisma, attitude and allure.

The lack of self awareness coming from you is insane

Exactly. These are the same people that complain that Doja is too cringe on Twitter and that Billie pushes her LA elitist vegan takes too much and that Olivia can only play the scorned woman. Its hypocritical

I really liked her until I saw her live in concert. Being pretty is great, but it felt like watching paint dry a bit. Also, I haven’t been liking any of her songs from the extended FN era and Dance The Night. Depending on how the next era starts, I might be done.

Why do you for some reason discount artists that actually have successful tours? Dua had a great tour in the US and now Taylor is absolutely demolishing all records and filling up stadiums. How is that not proof that she is the music industry?

Doja is cringe on Twitter. Billie is untouchable though. I don’t personally care for Olivia, but she’s great for this current generation of young listeners.

It’s just Dua who’s faceless and boring. :celestial5:

gays want the artists to show personality but then drag artists like Taylor, Katy, Camila, Selena, Demi, Doja, Nicki, Azealia, Britney for their personalities because they're corny, weird, cringe or messy.

You all don't even know what you want. They are not your friends or your family, just listen to their music and shut up  :gaycat:

While I wouldn’t personally go as far as calling her boring I don’t find her personality to be -that- interesting. Like, she doesn’t have a single interview that’s funny or entertaining or insightful or memorable or anything :rip: and I’ve watched/seen things some of y’all haven’t even seen like her Song Exploder episodes/podcast feature :rip:

Billie makes somber music but her interviews she does 1 year apart are so informative and joyous to watch. Olivia is SO excitable you can literally see her eyes sparkle with emotion. Doja is a CHARACTER :deadbanana2: And Megan Thee Stallion has a BOLD personality. So yeah, out of this new generation, Dua can definitely fall a little flat.

But that doesn’t make the music bad!

Dua talking about progressive politics circa 2020 and praising politicians like Bernie Sanders is one of the most exciting things I’ve seen from an artist since Gaga speaking about Don’t Ask Don’t Tell (exaggeration but you get it). Ariana is the only other girl who excited me for the same reason, since you know, they were using their platform to highlight things that actually matter.

No one cares about Billie eating boogers, Doja 4chan sh*tposts, Olivia’s next Taylor-coded boyfriend lyric, etc.

If you don’t find someone exciting, that’s you, but it doesn’t make the person being boring an objective fact, especially when most of our old MPGs don’t even do interviews at all anymore.

Wait, just streamed “Break My Heart”, I might be wrong about Miss Lipa. I retract all previous statements. :celestial5:

And how exactly does that disprove my comment, one user on ATRL saying he didn't like the tour suddenly discounts thousands who attended her shows?

Dua has her Albanian roots as her identity, she is extremely outspoken about women’s rights, Palestine, immigration, etc. She’s way more outspoken than Doja for example. So what more do yall want? :deadbanana2:

Are you kidding? She’s a force. She has the talent, charisma, uniqueness and nerve. She did not conform to what people expected of her. That’s a star.

You really could imagine Dance The Night being on her debut album? :rip: Of course it would fit Future Nostalgia, she was chosen because of the Future Nostalgia sound, so that she could serve that girly dance-pop bop for a movie like Barbie. It's not like she's doing a Bond soundtrack, you could put any other single off FN in the soundtrack and it would fit amazing, because.. it's the perfect sound for it. Why would she serve a genre shift for a soundtrack and not her lead anyway?

Plus there's nothing wrong with staying in a lane, knowing what works for you, building an identity and having a recognizable sound. What people love about Dua is that she's never pretentious, she makes fun music and she's not trying to be fake deep or anything, she loves fun and she's doing a great work, she's working hard for her success and truly serving with each era.

My only complain is that she should show more of her personality, we love her instagram posts and looks but she has a great personality in my opinion and I would love to get to know more about her.

I’m sorry but a successful tour is not indicative of talent or personality. Morgan Wallen has a successful tour. So is he this untouchable mastermind talent now?

stream Cool for clear skin

Not boring at all but it's time to retire the FN sound and serve something completely different
