While I wouldn’t personally go as far as calling her boring I don’t find her personality to be -that- interesting. Like, she doesn’t have a single interview that’s funny or entertaining or insightful or memorable or anything  and I’ve watched/seen things some of y’all haven’t even seen like her Song Exploder episodes/podcast feature  

 

Billie makes somber music but her interviews she does 1 year apart are so informative and joyous to watch. Olivia is SO excitable you can literally see her eyes sparkle with emotion. Doja is a CHARACTER  And Megan Thee Stallion has a BOLD personality. So yeah, out of this new generation, Dua can definitely fall a little flat. 
 

But that doesn’t make the music bad!

So you're saying Dua has 0.00% charisma, uniqueness or nerve? I think I would agree. Some songs are cute, but it's nothing I would willingly listen to, they are perfect for what they are: faceless pop songs you hear on the radio and think: Wait, is this Katy Perry?

Like ATRL has really changed since 2010 because no one complained about larger than life personalities back in the day but now yalls stars need to share every single detail off their life, be extremely close with their fans and be goofy / silly to be labeled as ‘having a personality’.

 

I’m 22 years old but sometimes I feel like I’m 40 with the way I literallt dgaf with what my generation craves in a popstar. I want the industry to pump out Gaga’s, Madonna’s, Beyoncé’s (not saying Dua is on their level, but you get what I mean)

Dua is a type of laid back effortless that hasn’t really been seen in a major pop star before. The closest is probably Rih but even she’s memorable for her like bad gal **** where she was clapping back at people and ****  Dua unfortunately doesn’t have a trait that stands out like Gaga’s eccentricities or Katy’s corniness or Bey’s regality etc. But don’t let it get to you too much babe  She still makes great music and will continue to succeed much to the detriment of her detractors

What? I’m not really talking about my musical preferences I’m just talking about how entertaining or interesting they are. Azealia Banks is also entertaining to watch, but in the same way a train wreck is. Doesn’t mean I agree with the facets of these girls personalities. It just means I know I’m gonna be interested in what’s going on in their lives outside of music

It doesn’t get to me but I just don’t understand why people have such a need for relatable popstars. I don’t listen to music to have my feelings validated (except when I listen to Lorde or Fiona) I listen to escape

I do feel validated when I listen to Madonna interviews so I guess I understand part of it. But still… you dont have to share every bit of your life and emotions in your songs for me to feel like your music is worthy. Making thematical, interesting pop songs >>>>

Actually in this case I don’t think people are necessarily asking for Dua to be relatable. Gaga wasn’t relatable at all but she damn sure was interesting you know? And I know that’s a really high bar but, it just feels like all the new relatable girls and all the old larger than life girls had DEFINING traits. I guess we’re all still just waiting to see what Dua’s is  Take it as a compliment, it means people care enough about her to want more!

“Entertaining or interesting” no, they are just annoying. That’s why Nicki and Doja lose tons of stans whenever they open their mouths. That’s why Gaga, Xtina, Miley, and Katy fell of the music industry, because the public couldn’t stand their personalities and antics anymore. Literally no one wants Dua to have this kind of personality besides her haters, I wonder why

I actually think Dua is more interesting because shes the only one (aside from maybe Planet Her era Doja) who approaches pop in a traditional way with big escapist eras. She stands out in a vast sea of singer songwriters to me
