Janet (stylized as janet.) is the fifth studio album by American singer Janet Jackson, released on May 18, 1993, by Virgin Records America. Prior to its release, Jackson was at the center of a high-profile bidding war over her recording contract. In 1991, her original label A&M sought to renew her contract, while others, such as Atlantic, Capitol, and Virgin all vied to sign her. After meeting with Virgin owner Richard Branson, she signed with the label. The contract was worth an estimated $40 million, making her the world's then-highest paid musical act.

Janet is probably the perfect example of a popstar delivering groundbreaking, cohesive albums full of multiple genre-bending sounds.

Our time has come to rejoice.

A cohesive, full-meal album :clap3:

Showing some love for this underrated masterpiece

crazy how this album is so cohesive despite the various sounds. R&B, rock, pop, soul, glitch pop even. I love this album with all my heart

Excellent album. I love how it explores so many genres. R&B, new jack swing, operatic vocals on 'This Time', rock, dance-pop, trip hop and industrial with chanted verses and beautiful harmonies on 'If', 'Throb' is a house jam, pop-rock on 'What'll I Do', paying tribute to the Harlem jazz scene on 'Funky Big Band', the black pride themes on 'New Agenda', bossa nova on 'The Body That Loves You', so much variety to enjoy :heart2:

Jamming to this track that deserves more praise as we speak :clap3:

The image transition from Love Will Never Do (Without You) to janet. is impeccable. Her mind.

the begin of her PEAK :sosad: what a phenomenal album, used to be my only #1 janet album but since then the three that follows had joined the ranks :bird: she's just musical EXCELLENCE

A staple and must-listen. Even though I prefer several Janet albums, it is undeniably a masterpiece.

A true classic! :clap3:

Now how is this puta and her team going to celebrate? Deluxe expanded anniversary edition when? There are b-sides and the remix album that we need to be available to stream.

An immaculate album and a great example of making a diverse, yet cohesive album and also a great example of how to sell sex with class.

That's The Way Love Goes, If and Any Time Any Place are top notch songs. Again and You Want This are great as well. Even the B-sides slap.

Because Of Love and The Body That Loves You are the only duds on the album and even those are still 6/10.

Released on my birthday and one of my favourite albums of all time. Impactnet did THAT :jonny5:

Classic album,  her second best behind The Velvet Rope :clap3:

I recently listened to this album, in full, for the first time earlier this year. Loved it so much that I went band bought the vinyl. A masterpiece indeed! :clap3:
