Because she has all the ingredients for success but none of the vision or magic that superstars require. I like Zara and think she is exceptionally talented. But there's not one interesting, unique or differentiating feature about her or her music, and she lacks the artistic ambition that is needed to overcome this basic constraint.

OK, for argument's sake, let's say this happens and the US quietly tries to hide this under the rug and at least succeeds in doing so domestically. (For the record, I don't think this is realistic.) In this case, the longer-term problem for the country is that no one else in the world will forget or forgive. You don't get to **** up at this scale as a country and not pay dearly for it. The price will be paid in the decline, and the only possible path to stopping this decline is true accountability for all the corruption, pain and criminality that has been endured under Trump. And I doubt that will ever come.
