In comparison, Lover feels less fully realized.

Lover has some great bops, but is dragged down by too many filler tracks. It should have been cut down by like 5-6 tracks and definitely would benefit from a better lead single. ME! is just unlistenable 

Chromatica is the better album, for me.

the fact that i loved Chromatica and hated Lover on both releases but Lover just aged way better for me. Lover wins. 

 

Chromatica still goes hard tho but i need to be on A VERYYY specific mood 

and it does remind me so much of covid lockdown  i thing this really hurted the way chromatica aged for me.

Chromatica is so uninspired. It houses none of the cheeky campy fun that was such a hallmark of her 2008-2013 stuff. Basically, Gaga is checked out - the album is just void of personality, despite trying to be this big bombastic dance through the tears moment.

 

Lover is a bit aimless and sonically all over the place, but it has way stronger songwriting moments (obviously), some fantastic hooks and some genuinely fun moments, so it's an easy vote for me.

Lover has higher highs but the lows are just  So Chromatica

Lover has its fair share of lows (ME!, YNTCD, The Man, SYGB), but the highs are just too high for Chromatica to compete (False God, DBATC, CS x2, Lover, The Archer, MA&THP...).

 

Both are definitely not close to being their best albums though. 

I think Chromatica has higher highs that are more entertaining (Alicia, Enigma, Replay). Lover has Afterglow and The Archer though which are nice.
