Why hasn't Mariah toured extensively?

Wasnt the Caution Tour struggling to sell out theaters?

Caution grossed like 7.4M out of a 35 date tour...where only 18 dates were reported and she wasn't selling out theaters 

 

7.4M is what some older female acts will be doing out of like 3 arena dates in a few months. Not everyone has that kind of touring power i guess.

Those stats are genuinely shocking.

 

Madonna, Celine and tons of newer artists should not be demolishing her in touring like this, so bizarre.

The main issue with Mariah is that since her vocals were the only thing that would make you see her live, once that started to get worse, there's not much there for you to see. 

Celine has stage presence, has charisma, knows how to put on a show that's still heavily focused on vocals but there's an interesting show behind all that. 

 

Mariah is for vocalists what Rihanna is for pop stars: huge catalog of hits, but not a huge live audience i think.

Bc her voice is shot 

She didn't establish herself as a viable live act during her prime.

In the 90s, touring was not as lucrative as producing CDs so Mariah focused on pumping out an album year after year. She never established herself as a touring artist in a similar way to her peers. 

 

…Mariah is also not a great live performer and it’s as simple as that. She never danced and she’s not as dynamic as other big vocalists like Céline. Most people would only know her live performances from the NYC disaster. 
 

I have seen her live during Caution Tour and she is decent but I would still opt to see other divas before her. 

Constant vocal injury from the onset of her career, which impacted the consistency of her voice, which in turn impacted her confidence as a stage performer.

I think it's also of the times. Tours weren't as extensive back then in general.

Essentially this. Mariah makes more money out from royalties than touring so she never had the will to tour extensively.

I think in the current landscape she can do better.

Because she doesn't have a good reputation as a performer. Simple as that.

 

 

 

I'm a massive fan and even I wouldn't pay to see her. 

 

 

She used to tour all the time (or at least had a residency) but hasn't really done so since the pandemic.

Basically this. 
 

I still think that now is the time for her to utilize her touring powers with the current dynamics of the touring industry but she seems utterly uninterested in that.
