I don't have to do any research as I've been a DC stan / hive since 1997. What you're referring to is intersection. DC and Beyoncé do intersect musically because it's the same fundamentals of R&B and contemporary music, but Beyoncé's overall aspirations as an artist spiral out of destiny's child's universe for 90% of her discography. I'd say the same for Michelle and Kelly, too, actually.

Nope. Streaming has changed music to the point that I don't believe there will be any long term superstars in the near future. Even with as outwardly popular Taylor Swift is, I've been able to avoid hearing anything by her from the last two / three years because I only stream music that I'm interested in.

I'm older but I would say I used to say 2001 (not just for 9/11), but tbh 2016, 2020 and 2021 made 2001 seem like a child's birthday party lol. I would say the late 2010s just accelerated the overall vibe of a dystopian world.

What no one is really going to say: Bad A&R. She's very talented and has a very wide variety of music that keeps getting thrown away (I don't even want to get into it…) But since the start of her career, her label and A&R's have been seemingly against her releasing more urban / contemporary / soul music and I think she's bored because of the industry politics of it all. I think if she had invested in creating a space for herself to release music and more creative work, she'd be in a better space…

Disagreed. It's not because music was "better," it's just an overall culture shift toward streaming and away from terrestrial radio. Also, conventionally "big" music releases are no longer really a thing. Planning an era and celebrity branding has changed. I say all that to say I've never heard this Ophelia song but I've also been able to avoid it since I never listen to the radio and I don't care for Taylor Swift.

Kinda, sorta. I think she intended for it to be a legitimately successful single with rage attached to it. The thing about Judas is that it was a weird single. So it had the same smoke to it that like a prayer had, it just wasn't great enough as a stand alone song to defend it, especially because it was released on Easter. Also

It really is one of the greatest female rap albums of all time, it's easily in my top 5. As it's her only officially released album, it held up well.

That's because she'll mix a song until it's unrecognizable. Sometimes I love it, sometimes it's annoying.

The remix with Lisa's rap was also awesome. I hate how old this song is now because I remember going to the Virgin Megastore to pick up the CD single the day it got released.

Morocco is safe logistically since it's easy to get to from Spain, Portugal, or France. South Africa seems like a logistical nightmare (traveling, rehearsal, etc.) , but they have promoters and the resources to make things happen. Janet toured South Africa in 1998 and her date schedule from city to city was a MESS. I don't know how they did it without being tired and annoyed.
