Thoughts on Britney's ''3''?

Featured Replies

This was my first lead single experience as a Britney fan.

I heard "Gimme More" for the first time in 2007 or 2008 and it was my "pop music awakening" for lack of a better word.

By the time Womanizer was a smash and she was back on top, I was a fan. I was very excited for this to drop and remembered turning the radio on as soon as I could to try to hear it. Now we would call this "front loaded", but then it actually was a pretty big deal that she debuted atop the Hot 100. The only artists to do this before were American Idol winners, and Mariah, that's it. Now, because of streaming this is pretty common.

These were good times. The last time pure sales and radio airplay truly mattered and streaming wasn't a factor. It's changed so much... Don't know if I can say for the better, necessarily, at least not all factors.

It’s a generic bop and sounded dated on arrival, despite Max and Shellback producing it, but still one of my favs. The bridge is god tier

I've been replaying it a lot lately, i love it's bridge

a three... or four.. on the floor.

:WAP:

It's perfect for tik tok too, i hope it gets a trend there.

the way the hair flip + shades combo 2:08-2:11 has haunted me (in a good way) as a stan forever :jonny5:

I remember the exact night this was released, it stands out because I was on MSN with schoolmates and I was surprised that even the str8ie metal-head was bopping to it. :jonnycat:

This is one of my fave moments in any Britney video. So subtle, but so effective.

The clean radio edit has no business existing though.

One of Britney's best therefore one of the best pop songs of all time, yup.

Because it’s considered a standout single.

Kind of how 4 5 Seconds was to ANTI. A huge hit but when it comes to crediting the album it’s forgotten.

3 would’ve made Circus a much bigger era

One thing I've always wondered. What is she saying after this: "1, 2, 3 / Peter, Paul, and Marry / getting down with three P / everybody loves..."

At the very end she says "ooh", but it's over her saying something that ends in "-un". Is it everybody loves f***in'? You can hear it repeatedly at 4:27 here:

Even though it was a #1 it still feels underrated amongst her hits. It still slaps hard and the bridge is PERFECTION! I’d love for this and HIAM to receive more acknowledgement from fans and the GP.

this :clap3:

I remember it being massive around wintertime and it was amazing to experience, but I wish it would've had a bigger impact

This thread! I love seeing my favorite Britney song get praise :jonny5:

In an era when her peers were performing at the Grammys, at all the awards shows, late night shows,….she did nothing to promote this song and it was a huge # 1 hit. Her power :jonny6:
