I love the narrative RV is a failure as an 8 year old group with a song at #11 on the Year End chart :deadbanana2:

it’s crazy that some users in this thread have been trying to say they’re over since at least 2019. they truly never learn :dies:

no one said red velvet is over :rip: they're just... there :lmao:

that's how you know you're a failure - you're constantly releasing and you're still on the same place you were since you debuted :rip:

y’all come for red velvet like every week and try to say they’re over, irrelevant, and need a funeral.

GIVE IT UP, they have longevity and are reaching new career highs. Birthday was a dud but let’s not act like they haven’t had one of those before. Feel My Rhythm was a hit, shh. Worry about these other groups because RV don’t need y’all to worry abt them.

Right like they‘ve said the same thing for like years now :deadbanana2: The fact that RV could be #1 on Melon for 12 weeks and the same users would still be saying “RV failure group!” And then trying to paint f(X) as a success when RV are eons more successful than f(X) in like every department :deadbanana:

somehow the deluluvs has succeeded on making us talk about rv on here again by inserting themselves on newjeans :rip:

we should just try and ignore them from now on cause i'm convinced that's their main purpose - to insert rv on anything successful to feel smthn :rip:

anyways, OMG > Ditto atm :jonnycat:

failed offshoot of snsd :rip: please. f(x) and snsd has no similarities like at all :rip: and f(x) is not a failure unlike red velvet (who is literally a failed f(x) and snsd clone) as you can see, from red velvet's latest releases and newjeans - f(x) is still influencing the girls up to 2023.

blackpink hasn't had any similarities with 2ne1 since like as if its your last so i dont get why you keep bring them up :rip: let it go sis :rip:

F(x) was literally created as an offshoot. They let MHJ helm the project because she was the mastermind behind the concepts from Gee and Genie and they made f(x)‘s concept “a dance group” (we all thought it meant they were going to be amazing dancers, but it turned out it meant they would sing Westernized electronic dance songs like what SNSD and BoA did). As you can clearly see, all of these groups owe their creative director a huge thank you and the artists who popularized and kept that work afloat deserve their props, too.

BlackPink have a vocal double and almost the same line-up. Rose is a Bom clone and probably the most obvious clone ever in K-pop aside from Soyeon/HyunA, Jennie is CL and Lisa is Minzy. The only outlier is they didn’t bother with another Dara and just gave them a Seohyun - Jisoo. This site has a weird infatuation with trying to claim obvious influences didn’t happen because they don’t want to acknowledge artists they don’t like, and it’s embarrassing. So if you want to claim that Red Velvet have no impact because they’re a clone group, then BlackPink have no impact because they’re also a clone group. And TWICE, NewJeans, etc. also have no impact because they’re also just continuations of other groups :skull:

Still wonder why Starship didn’t have any trainees left on Hyolyn/Yeonjung level to debut. Liz is cute and Yujin does what she can, but IVE’s vocal line just feels super underwhelming compared to Sistar and WJSN.

hopefully the latter renews next month or imma have to boycott miss strawberry and friends; Ive, Monsta X and Cavity ain’t enough to check for that company without my Cosmic Girlies. I want them to at least admit the C-Line not coming back, they’ve been booked longer at home than actually promoting with the group at this point :rip:

they've never had a peak cultural moment like snsd did with The Boys where anticipation was through the roof.

and they're way past their commercial peak too.

being the 3rd gen rep of SM, they're lowkey a flop.

newjeans omg/ditto felt like a bigger comeback than any RV one hype-wise :rip:

No lies were told

No other girl group has had a peak cultural moment like SNSD did with The Boys. They broke through most of the markets, outsold the male groups and gave us a timeless K-pop song. If that’s the criteria you want to compare to, BP, TWICE, BTS, IU, etc. haven’t had a cultural moment like The Boys, either.

Red Velvet were #11 on the digital year end chart and sold 2M+ physicals 8 years into their career. No other girl group has ever managed that.

The way you have to scream “deluluv” like I wasn’t a Red Velvet hater when they first debuted. I have no problem claiming that Red Velvet was a clone group of f(x), but for some reason when you mention that BlackPink, the most obvious clone group in K-pop along with (G)-IDLE, is a clone of 2NE1, the Blinks foam at the mouth.

Maybe you girls deserve the constant shelving of projects and dated Teddy productions. Truly an awful fanbase. And I’m sure you’ll turn on NewJeans the minute you realize that the Min Hee Jin’d group is outpacing BlackPink’s career the way your fanbase turned on Aespa when it became clear they were outpacing BP, too :coffee2:

ok I'm glad someone brought this up because it's been bugging me.

so she was an art director. then why is so much of the music that accompanied her concepts amazing? Coincidence? Was the period she worked at SM just coincidentally a great era of music for SM?

I have this theory that she was secretly running or at least very involved in A&R at SM, but the men in the company didn't want to give her credit for picking the bops

So basically a lot of writers/ producers left SM as well. For example, NJ’s producer 250 and FRNK are both under an agency called BANA, which is founded by a former SM A&R.

:bibliahh:You guys are so delusional I swear. Just say You don't like RV and go. They are a success, they are relevant, they are talented, they release good music, they even produced an it girl. It's 2023 and Twice has failed to produce and it girl and are flopping since their 4th year:bibliahh:

We also need to let go of the narrative that TWICE is flopping just because their domestic digitals are low. They’re #2 overall for girl groups on Spotify and they’ve sold 12.85M physicals and they’re still #1 for girl groups by a country mile in consumption units.

Their digitals from 2018 on are still #2 for a girl group and not far behind BP.

I feel bad to betray Ditto because I’ve had it on repeat for weeks but I think OMG is taking it
