Even Miley stans were kii'ing over how hard columbia was pushing her at that time.

It felt so vindicating, though, because she was always getting dragged by her peers’ fans for having bad streams and then she immediately invalidated that argument.

The part that gags me is the girls here who want to drag buying albums and then put all of their stock in Spotify, YouTube, Melon, etc. like they don’t get caught regularly for fraudulence.

Because flowers and as it was are plastered on the radio all the time

Which wasn’t the case for 7. I wonder why radios didn’t pick up the song

Yes. Miley Cyrus left RCA records (infamous for bad playlisting and no use of Spotify tricks) and was known for having terrible recurrent streams despite impressive sales. Her first release under Columbia Records used the Autoplay feature hard and suddenly she went from abysmal streaming numbers to setting a record for fastest song to 1B streams ever. Flowers (with Autoplay payola) was streamed 1.5B times and is pulling 1.943M daily. River (no Autoplay) is at 110M and pulling 126k daily while Jaded (no Autoplay) is at 124M and doing 226k daily.

Most streams are fake (confirmed by every major platform themselves) and it’s why I stan the Circle charts so much. They’re constantly weeding out fraudulent streams which is why you’ll see boy groups’ streams that are reflected on Circle are a fraction of what they pull when the platforms post numbers.

Hmm not really sure. Imo Flower the song was really viral and not only on Spotify but in every other platforms. But we all know that a viral song doesn’t mean that people will care for your music after.

As for 7, the song will probably will have more longevity bc he have a big fanbase. It will be interesting to see where the song land on the end year chart of the top 10 biggest markets :cupid:

IVE should have saved Blue Blood as a title track. It's so much better than Baddie.

Where did the info that Jini can't perform at major music shows come from?

Idk if it’s official that she’s blacklisted but so far she isn’t performing on any music shows

The part that gags me is the girls here who want to drag buying albums and then put all of their stock in Spotify, YouTube, Melon, etc. like they don’t get caught regularly for fraudulence.

I've noticed that a lot of kpop fans are woefully uneducated on the history of the record industry not just in Korea but abroad. Every single era has been plagued by verifiable, first hand accounts of payola and stat inflation by reputable and public-facing insiders to the industry.

There's Spotify's CEO openly boasting about the payoffs they receive for TTH or autoplay placement, the massive 00s radio payola scandal in the US, melon reforming to be LESS transparent, ex-SM people admitting LSM kept tens of thousands of dollars in cash to bribe radio and tv broadcasters with(and saying it was standard practice in the industry), saving songs on streaming services being counted as a SALE by gaon, "sold out" show media play when there's pictures of the idols on stage in an empty arena, Tidal alleging every single one of its subscribers was streaming certain tracks multiple times a day, iTunes(and then later Apple Music) being intentionally opaque to such a degree that an ATRL user made a better chart to track what's happening there, etc, etc. The entire reason for Hanteo existing as a chart is that in any market where sales aren't counted and regulated, it's commonplace for record labels to over-ship albums to create false sales and then use the losses as a tax write-off.

The reality is that the appearance of popularity/culture significance is the #1 thing that can help a record/album take off and since they invented mediums for storing music, the industry that emerged around it has been focused on finding every shortcut to that appearance. It doesn't mean that payola-ridden songs or albums aren't successful in the long run, it just means they had a helping hand and their stats are skewed because of it. I don't agree w @Eternium on every single point they make about payola(SM definitely buys YouTube views and has been since 2nd gen + aespa are now outstreaming other huge 4th gen groups out of nowhere) but people need to stop clowning ha everytime she brings it up as if it's some tinfoil hat conspiracy. At this point in music history the more reasonable attitude is to assume everything is smoke and mirrors until proven otherwise. People talk like the internet and social media has democratized culture and fixed a lot of this issue but are turning a blind eye to the fact that dozens of acts all around the world are miraculously topping charts 15+ years into their careers consistently when even the Beatles and Michael Jackson could barely manage that.

I really don't know how people who claim to be so passionate and informed about pop music are so ignorant about the industry behind it.

I was kind of thinking about something that could be one of the topics of discussion for the day (something I want to do regularly):

For those of you who were fans of OT9 SNSD, how did you deal with Jessica’s departure? If she was your bias, did it change how you looked at the group afterward?

It’s been almost 10 years since she left SNSD. With most of the girls at other labels now despite coming together for group comebacks, what would you make of Jessica reuniting with the girls and that leading to her rejoining the group? Think it could happen or has too much damage been done?

Oh I like this.

I was shocked of course but since I like them all equally, I kinda accepted it over time especially with all those rumors going on before her exit. I still follow Jessica closely as solo artist ( she's only behind Tae and Tiff in my most played artists ) and she's doing great building her empire thus far :clap3:

I would love that possibility. Whatever happened between this girls bts, I'm a firmly believer that everyone deserves a 2nd chances afterall she was there right at beginning, at their prime, at their lows and we all grew up with all 9 of them.

Strengths (besides music)

Lesserafim - performance

Itzy - dancers / performance

IVE - Wonyoung / It-girls / Virality

New Jeans - aesthetic

NMIXX - vocals

Aespa - unique concept / vocals

GIDLE - stage presence/ self-produced

StayC - in-house production

I’d also add distinct vocal tones, risk taking and daring concept switches for Gidle.

She really came swinging with this bop. Showed everyone the star she’s always been :clap3:

if only this was during the domestic peak of Twice as a whole, imagine how many PAKs this song would have gotten :WAP:

I never in my life thought that Lee Know would do a SKZ-Replay track omg!
I always wanted a Minsung unit song, but thought that it would never happen. Though I wanted them to debut a Minsung unit song in their actual album, cause the hype would’ve been insane, since Minsung is by far the most popular pairing in the fandom. But I am also happy with a SKZ-replay track

The way Lee Know went from being N/A in almost a month to now his MC gig, his interview with W Korea and now releasing a new song with Han all in the same day :WAP:

Guess the coins for cat food and treats are dried up so he need to do something to keep his cats from starving :giraffe:

Anyway this is a cute tracks and perfect time for fan service despite wishing Lee Know get more actively involved on creative process and a writing credit on it.
