I've been on here since 2014 and it still feels like the same website.

 

Constant back and forth bickering over "pop girls"

 

Throwing around the word flop and not so thinly veiled misogyny and sexism

 

Racism, prejudice and the like

 

Using local as an insult and insinuating that Europe = Global

 

The base today looks like it's always looked. Its things like the blog section and the thread where you could literally post anything and not be warned (forgot it's name). That's what has made the difference. 

 

The site feels a bit more mature now, but I joined at age 17, was in HS and had all the time to be messy as opposed to today, so I guess I don't really mind the change. 17 year old me would've probably been perma-banned in today's ATRL (especially because I was banned so often even back then)

Also, alot of the same people who were on here when I joined are still on here, so in alot of ways we've grown together. Alot of the changes with the temperament on here might just be because we're getting older.

 

There are SEVERAL members on here, including myself, who were NOTORIOUSLY messy at one point. Dragging and throwing shade on an internet forum doesn't hit the same in your mid-late 20's/early 30's, compared to when you were in HS with no bills, credit score or car note, lbr.

Forreal. I mean I like to shade and troll for nostalgia purposes every now and then but things are so different. I don’t find it funny and amusing like I used to. I’ve definitely grown out of it and I just don’t have the time anymore.

The server problems have definitely contributed to ATRL's downfall for sure, but even without it I think ATRL would still be in a decline because of how toxic and problematic the community can be.

the 2 site wide resets I just hope the posts are archived somewhere

I think it also has to do with mods being stans, they should be people people who are impartial to any pop star.

Also, the forum used to be a lot more diverse, now it is almost all gay guys, and it is wack how they can post the most explicit things in threads about guys when you get a we for saying a pop girl has nice ****. There was a point a couple of years back where the forum was TOO explicit.

I don’t even think it’s so much ATRL. I think pop culture just isn’t what it was 10 or 15 years ago. Social media has completely killed the mystique of it all so it’s not as fun. Also celeb gossip isn’t niche anymore, everyone follows it and has an opinion so it’s hard to have inside jokes about things we used to, it’s all mAiNsTrEaM now and can be found all over Insta or Twitter or TikTok

True. I find the Britney, Christina, Gaga, Katy, Rih jokes to be soooo tired and boring and a lot of it is repetitive. And I just truly do not care about who’s selling what or who’s a “flop” or whatever. That stop being fun or interesting a decade ago.

This site just has too many problems. It's barely functional. The fact that you can go on P*pJ*st*c* and read threads from like 2005/2006, but you can't even go back to threads from last ******* year on ATRL is just pathetic.

1. Stan culture as a whole is an antiquated concept. Gen Z doesn’t “stan” people, they even prefer to “stan” unknown underground artists and be proud of that. 
 

2. If arguing with random people on the internet is up your alley, there are better places to do so. You’ll just get banned here quickly (and rightfully so).

 

3. Server won’t help. Forums are old fashioned and outdated and we can’t even have that basic experience here with old threads being randomly deleted and servers crashing with minimal surge in activity. 
 

4. There’s a random new mod like every month and the ones we get are struggling to set aside their personal faves from their mod duties + ZTP is only partially enforced + the extreme left mentality here is so sheepish.

I feel like the change from ATRL classic to This ATRL.

 

a lot of users never came back aftewards, but I think the OG owner not giving the site completely to the current runners of this site, so they can't fix this 503 error.
