Latinos have a cultural complex in which they perceive themselves as “humble”/simple. Diva people like Jlo are the anti thesis of what a “latino” is to their eyes. Just look at the roles in telenovelas and “iconic” latino TV shows like El Chavo del 8, Betty La Fea and Maria la del Barrio. It is always some “relatable” (usually poor) character meant to be liked by the latino audience and the rich vs poor narrative is almost always a hit here.
