Cardi B is flopping. Why?

Featured Replies

After a string of underperforming collabs this past year (Rumors 134M, Wild Side 115M, Shake It 22M, No Love 14M), Cardi B has finally released her long-anticipated comeback single and third attempt to launch CB2.

With huge comeback hype, a Kanye West verse, and no major competition this week, everyone expected Cardi to come back with a huge SMASH.

Well...

The song has also failed to cross the top 5 on Apple Music (her biggest market)

At this point, Cardi seems to be in the middle of a flop era.

Why is this happening to her? Surprised?

Idk I'll wait for the video and see if it's the song.

Never really understood the hype. She can’t rap lol.

I do like her personality though but I don’t take her seriously as an artist.

You need to strike while the iron is hot, there was no reason for there not to be album after WAP or at the latest after UP

The song flopped bc of Kayne and Lil Durk.

The song is just bad and not up to her standards.

She's been overestimated in terms of success and chart power, Invasion Of Privacy has been doing barely 1M streams daily and it was considered a huge success, I guess she's pretty local so her success is very US-centered.

No one is immune to flopping. What's the point of this thread. :rip:

Not being able to understand who is her target. Having Kanye and Lil Durk as feature doesn’t add anything to her audience, most likely the opposite

I’d listen to it cause sometimes she serves bops but I cannot with Kanye West these days so I have 0 interest. To think I was his biggest fan years ago and now I can’t stand his presence/face/voice  :rip:. Maybe if she releases a version without him people will tune in

Wait really? the revelations today oh wow :omg:

The song's title speak for itself, it's ****. Postponing the album multiple times didn't helped either, I like some of her tracks but she is serving unprofessionalism.

  • The novelty of her stripper turned "rapper" narrative always had an expiration & she has no other discernible appeal.
  • Visual production is what did most of the heavy lifting in her success. She didn't drop a video with the song.
  • Homophobia, ableism, several meltdowns put people off.
  • Her ghostwriter isn't coughing up new material, so she had to release a scrap leftover from 2019.
