It got two singles, no promotion beyond it's opening week, the concerts in support of it were messily cancelled, and she herself has not been in the spotlight since the album came out. Contrary to what many seem to believe, you've got to actually promote and push an album for it to sell.

There’s literally a 30 under 30 thread which discussed this exact topic, made 2 days or so ago.

True but Taylor hasn’t promoted Lover and Folklore in years yet they’re still in the Top 100.

Very simple answer. For longevity you need streaming. Half of the album has tracks around 6 minutes long aka not suited for streaming = no longevity

It did in a way. Because it's basically just 25, which was 21. The fact that she's been able to get this far without really expanding on her sound shows she has very dedicated fans.

it sold 3M pure copies in the US.. people listen to this album on vinyl not spotify. also, the songs are depressing and about divorce:rip: its summer like this is a FALL album . also theres two singles so far… shes coming for her own levitating remix moment and save this album once she drops I Drink Wine Remix :gaycat4:

she is undeniably the biggest star of the century. shes like the celine dion of the 10s / 20s. everything she touches will be gold

Agreed here. She doesn't really need to try if she doesn't want to.

Nobody cares about Adele in 2022. Pre-30 I wouldn't have believed it if someone said that but here we are.

It’s a lot more personal and introspective than her previous releases which imo makes it less accessible.  It’s still a great album and it did well but yeh.

.

The album was created to get one last push out of physical sales, which carried it upon it's release but after that, the strongest songs on the album are over 6 minutes long and not something people are going to play over and over.

I really don't get how yall type out stuff like this and actually mean it :deadbanana4: Adele is a HOUSEHOLD name. She's adored by almost every demographic. Her cancelling her residency might have soured people on her but if she announced a tour right now, tickets would be selling like hot cakes. You don't just lose your relevancy over night just because your album has been underperforming on music charts. There is still a lot of people checking on her.

If Taylor Swift dropped out of the top 10 streamed female artists list and folklore went all the way to be OUT of the BB200, does that mean that nobody cares about Taylor anymore? That she isn't relevant anymore? Exactly, no it doesn't because she's a household name as well. You don't just lose relevancy that you have build up over one album

The album is good but not catchy ie the songs are long, personal and heavy. It's not something people easily come back to like 21 and 25.

It's also different from her other albums, her fans seem to want 25 from her not this. A shame.
