30 by Adele not serving longevity, why?

Featured Replies

Why people keep saying 30 has no promo after debut week when both EOM and OMG spent months on TTH? She in fact released OMG as second single with music video and submitted it to radio. It was just not clicking and people simply say no to the album. :eli:

I really don't get how yall type out stuff like this and actually mean it :deadbanana4: Adele is a HOUSEHOLD name. She's adored by almost every demographic. Her cancelling her residency might have soured people on her but if she announced a tour right now, tickets would be selling like hot cakes. You don't just lose your relevancy over night just because your album has been underperforming on music charts. There is still a lot of people checking on her.

If Taylor Swift dropped out of the top 10 streamed female artists list and folklore went all the way to be OUT of the BB200, does that mean that nobody cares about Taylor anymore? That she isn't relevant anymore? Exactly, no it doesn't because she's a household name as well. You don't just lose relevancy that you have build up over one album

I should have rephrased it then. Nobody cares about Adele's music in 2022.

And yes if every Taylor album left the BB200 I'd say her popularity is in decline as well.

She literally had a 10 week number 1 hit that easily could have been 15 weeks. :rip:

In 2021. Then 30 was released and nobody cared. EOM's weeks at #1 was also bolstered by the most egregious radio play in ages. It was being outstreamed by other songs for weeks. It just wasn't a good album.

Go listen to 19, 21 and 30 and tell me how they’re similar. People and this tired and dumb narrative.

Very simple answer. For longevity you need streaming. Half of the album has tracks around 6 minutes long aka not suited for streaming = no longevity

It’s a lot more personal and introspective than her previous releases which imo makes it less accessible.  It’s still a great album and it did well but yeh.

Agreed. It baffles me to see the success stans insisting on the narrative that it's a bad album when it's by far Adele's most well-crafted and complete body of work ("21" is still incredible - don't get me wrong).

It's the same reason why Kendrick Lamar's "Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers" has been an underperformance compared to "DAMN." It's significantly less accessible and also much heavier in subject matter, which doesn't lend itself to repeated listens.

I Drink Wine hasn’t released as a single. :giraffe:

Also this. Shout-out to "Cry Your Heart Out" (should have been the second single over "Oh My God") and "Love Is A Game" as well.

it's actually stabilized in streams and maybe starting to bounce back a little bit. it was in top 100 on Apple Music in 64 countries earlier this week and now in 71. historically Adele's streams/sales increase when heading into fall. All 30 needs is one more hit song and it could do a lot better. I drink wine has potential for a fall hit.
